Commute from Crwys Road to Cardiff

I’ve decided to move within ten minutes walk of where the new Crwys Road station is going so will be observing closely. Hopefully it can be up and running Q4 27/Q1 28. Does anyone know if the Coryton line trains will be stopping there ? As the same tracks is the same between Heath and Queen street as the Rhymney line isn’t it ?

Yes it's the same tracks. I don't think the services that will stop there have been announced yet.

Hopefully not just the Coryton trains as that would be a half hourly service which wouldn't compete with buses from Crwys Rd. I don't actually know the expected stoppers from there, has anyone seen the planned service patterns?

There'll definitely be that. There are supposed to be 8tph each way through Crwys Road when it opens, but whether they'll all stop is another matter. (Those 8 are: 2tph Rhymney-Bridgend; 2tph Rhymney-Barry Island; 2tph Coryton-Penarth; 2tph Caerphilly-Penarth). There's a speculative diagram here that suggests that only the Penarth trains would call at Crwys Road (giving 4tph to Central) but what that's based on I've no idea.

4 tph sounds reasonable to begin with. They can always increase the number in peak hours if the demand is there.

4TPH sounds ideal indeed I was only expecting 2 per hour honestly

That raises an interesting question - as there will be another new station later at Roath Park/Wedal Road could it see the Rhymney services stopping here and not at Crwys Road (and vice versa). It would preclude anyone from travelling directly from Roath Park to Crwys Road but it would avoid having too many stops.
