For those that haven't used a car with this kind of technology a classic scenario is:Yes, there have certainly been some cars that have (at least early on) had software issues with things like lane keep assist, that can actively steer a vehicle into danger without quick intervention.
Lane Keep Assist:
You are driving along a road and see a cyclist in the distance travelling in the same direction, you check your mirrors and check if any cars are coming towards you - there aren't.
You move slowly and purposefully to overtake the cyclist, leaving a significant gap. This necessitates crossing the centre white lines.
Suddenly the car beeps wildly and takes control of the steering wheel jerking you left to get you back into your lane - only this also steers you directly into the cyclist you're passing.
Another classic is Speed Sign Recognition:
You are on a motorway driving at 70 mph and pass a slower moving van with a sticker that says "This vehicle is limited to 50 mph". This causes your vehicle to slam on the brakes as it mis-reads the sticker thinking it's an official speed limit sign. (See also driving along 50mph urban dual carriageways, when the car mis-reads the 30 mph signs of the side roads on the left and slams on the brakes causing surprise to those following behind.)
It can be quite scary and it's not surprising people want to turn the various ADAS systems off.
