5727 & 5871 were spotted at Stoneleigh on the 23/12/25. So they are probably at Derby waiting for their last journey.

I do not understand the connection between Stoneleigh on 23/12/2025 and then a probable scrap move to Derby within a week ?.

No but there should be, whatever broke down earlier on the slow lines has absolutely wrecked the afternoon services out of Waterloo. I have a horrible feeling the 701 rollout is going to come back to bite on more than a few occasions.

How do I mean what? the 701 rollout will bite, or how do I mean there should be some 455s out?

455s may be old but it's a reliable bit of kit, despite being impressed with the 701s so far, for some reason because the latter part of the rollout has felt so rushed and politically driven, I get a feeling something is going to bite the fleet on the arse en mass soon enough - either software or a common issue that'll knock various units out of work at the same time.

Hopefully will be wrong though. After all - they've been tested since time began.

That the 701 rollout will bite.

On that basis no new trains should ever be introduced again as it's obviously far too risky!

And I can't think of a less appropriate description than "rushed" for the 701 rollout!

Rushed is how I'd describe the DSB Talgo rollout - which have been introduced without thorough testing being completed due to the company having no other option.

Checking on RTT the 9:33 701 from Woking started to slow at Walton? The website said a passenger was ill, but was at Woking rather than a moving train?
Looks like also other problems on other lines at Vauxhall and Cobham?

I stand corrected in that case. Auto announcements were stating a fault with a train rather than the usual pax taken ill version

There was a faulty train at Vauxhall, it said it was rectified but no more details? And not clear on RTT?
There was also signalling problems at Cobham, not a good day for SWR.

Not good. Luckily this Shepperton service is not remotely entangled into the mix. Blind cut arrived today a nice momento of the outgoing workhorses.

701039 on 2F25 to Woking failed with a brake related issue. Got moving soon after but looks to have been slow to clear the line. That unit has been out in service over 350 times and don't think can be chalked down to a rushed rollout.

Parts of a rollout can still be rushed even if the overall programme is glacial. December wasn't a good month with a lot of short forms from not having enough 701s or available 455s to cover but still withdrawing 455s regardless. If the 6 weren't being retained as spares would likely have similar in January.
