Thanks for the information (and to the railway for updating the website over the Christmas period). The Standard 4 can be very impressive in wintry weather, so I look forward to visiting :)

Ah, that’s unfortunate my schedule allows me to do 28/29th and the 11th if the roster is different enough to make a trip worth while.

(I’m heading to Northern Italy and Switzerland to do the Bernina Express at the end of January :D )

I doubt they need 5820. The standard 4 will last (hopefully) until 2032, 90733 is set to return next year and they have 45212 which will return in the coming years. 5775 will replace the standard 2 and 90733 will replace 85 (but there is a power difference there) and will 5820 replace 41241 (but yet another power difference, increasing costs)
Not quite I’m afraid. 90733 technically replaces 5820 which was withdrawn early (and 90733 is slightly late coming back in)

Official document still says TBA, website isn't updated. Inside information?
That said, it's entirely plausible.

BTW 75078 was on fine form yesterday:)
It is definitely planned for 78022 to take over from 1st Jan. website will be updated in due course.

The Std 4 appears to have caused a number of lineside fires today between Oakworth and the passing loop.
No, managed burning of vegetation that has been cut down, with relevant Environment Agency licenses in place.

You’re not exactly a great advert for anyone wishing to do so.
Not really, you said the fire was uncontrolled, I said there was people tending the fires, I think you're the one who is the bad advert commenting and assuming the facts.

A bit like the Blackpool Tower “fire” a couple of years ago. Someone saw some orange netting flapping in the wind and thought it was on fire
I'd forgotten about that, didn't they step up a major incident too for it before anyone actually realised?

Is it known how long the agreement is with Riley’s for 5212?

41241 this weekend then the coal tank for 2 weekends and then 78022 for a weekend (with the diesel railbus taking the diesel turn for the 4 weekends mentioned) , I don’t see 52044 anywhere though.
