The Wimbledon to Derby drag has appeared for Monday with similar timings to normalAre we likely to see any scrap drags next week?
I'm going to take down the fleet list now after five years, as no 455s will be planned operational from Tuesday - leaving only three 458/5s from the outgoing fleet to be withdrawn. I considered if it was worth keeping a list for which 455s have been scrapped and which haven't, but we all know just how rapid they've being sent to the grinder's axe, so it seems a bit pointless. Obviously, we can keep track of that in posts.South Western Railway inner-suburban fleet

List denotes the status of SWR's Metro / Inner-Suburban fleet
Class 450 and Class 701 units are not shown as these will remain with SWR permanently
Class 450 and Class 458 units are planned to be withdrawn from Inner-Suburban duties
Currently, 0x Class 701 units are in service

You’ve done an absolutely superb job so no apologies needed. The information has helped on many a time for folk wishing to catch a certain unit in real time.I'm going to take down the fleet list now after five years, as no 455s will be planned operational from Tuesday - leaving only three 458/5s from the outgoing fleet to be withdrawn. I considered if it was worth keeping a list for which 455s have been scrapped and which haven't, but we all know just how rapid they've being sent to the grinder's axe, so it seems a bit pointless. Obviously, we can keep track of that in posts.
I do want to apologise for the greater simplicity of the list in later years. I did begin the list as an 18 year old first year uni student with all the time in the world, so I was pleased to maintain a very detailed list, with specific notes like what units were on maintenance, or stopped for exams, and locations and stuff - as I graduated, did my masters, relocated twice across the world and began immersed in my career full time, so it became very difficult to constantly update a very rapidly changing fleet list then! But I think the thread has been kept fabulously up to date thanks to the invaluable information from @bb21 and @TEW, along with anyone else who I might be unintentionally forgetting, and I know others will join me in thanking them for all of that great gen.
For nostalgic comparative purposes though - if anyone wants to see just how much the fleet has changed since I first made the thread/list - take a look at the first update![]()
Thanks for your replyRTT has issues with VSTPs and often does this.
'Special' is on the standard blind sets, along with 'Charter'.

Quite good imagery though - 701 going in, 455 going out. Ish....and the tour has made the BBC News website, even on the main home page with the actual report linking to the Surrey local news page.
Unfortunately the picture they're using is a little misleading, although it does at least include a 455 in the background... screenshot below...

Could have they not used the unit that had been repainted in the old BR livery for the farewell tour? And they decided to use both.
It's at Derby and a bit broken from what has been reported up thread.Could have they not used the unit that had been repainted in the old BR livery for the farewell tour?
WM601/602 WM603/604 WM605/606 totalling 3 455 pairs. Tuesday however WM601/602 WM603/604 are finishing at Wimbledon Park instead of being berthed at Waterloo/Guildford sidings. What is the best way to see which diagrams will be running on Monday and Tuesday?
Could have they not used the unit that had been repainted in the old BR livery for the farewell tour?
In an enthusiast group, earlier this week someone said apparently the unit did have a buyer for preservation, however transporting it risked bankrupting them (or any other buyer) due to heavy liability costs if the transport was disrupted, so withdrew. As a result, it's currently in the scrap queue with only a few units infront of them. It's at Derby and a bit broken from what has been reported up thread.
One thing I have noticed about the SWR 455s is that they do not show "455" on the front. They have the individual class number but not what class it is. The Southern ones did have "455" on the front. Was this something that got carried over from SWT and BR?
Yes, traditional Southern Region referencing. In fact in the railway you'll still often hear 6 digit unit numbers referred to by just the last four - potentially confusing for newbies not familiar with the heritage. One thing I have noticed about the SWR 455s is that they do not show "455" on the front.
