Severe weather warnings for Scotland. Help!

Help and advice required please as I am not a frequent rail traveler around Scotland.

I am traveling from LDS to STG via EDB tomorrow morning. Am I worrying about nothing, or could my journey be affected in away? ie OHL's down, flooding etc.

Does anyone know how bad it is around those lines up there at the moment?

Its too early to tell atm by looking at weather and national rail. The ECML looks fine this morning, i suggest you keep looking at weather reports for scotland throughout the day

NRE has no reports of any disruption in Scotland currently (see here) but as sonic says it's probably to early to tell if there will be issues tomorrow. I would suggest checking back shortly before you go to bed and first thing when you get up.

Many thanks, I shall do and yes I use the NR site all the time. Just concerned about something happening on route rather than before I leave Leeds. And if anyone was familiar with the line between EDB and STG, in regards to weather problems.

Edinburgh to Stirling should be fine. There's no wires to come down once the line splits between Edinburgh Park and Linlithgow, and it's generally not too bad for being disrupted in my experience. The line seems raised enough most of the way to avoid flooding, that's more of an issue around Edinburgh.

The weather here is alright just now anyway, a bit wet, but fine other than that.

If the trains are cancelled and there's no replacement buses running, chances are the normal buses will still be running, and you can get the Citylink 909 from the bus station just of St Andrew Square. It stops at Stirling bus station, which is right next to the train station.

However, looking at the forecast for the next 24 hours it is simply heavy rain today and then light winds
I would doubt there would be any issues remaining by Monday morning

That is excellent thank you. Shall make a note of this. It's a very important meeting and have to be there come wind, rain, snow, ice or wrong leaves!

Thank you. The more posts I read, the better I feel. We have had and still having heavy rain here in West Yorks at the moment, but the wind is light for now.

Scotland has much higher average rainfall than south of the border (with the possible exception of Cumbria and the West coast) and our landscape is much more able to cope with heavy rainfall than many other parts of the country - so flooding and landslips whilst by no means unheard of are fairly unusual in the Central Belt.

While it has been very wet conditions were by no means exceptional and there has been no reports of significant problems. The rain has eased off and expected to die out overnight, so I do not anticipate any weather related travel disruption tomorrow.

Services are currently running as normal.

A couple of weeks ago the Met Office said Britain was going to "sizzle" in 30 degree temperatures.

Rain was very heavy over the weekend, driving conditions were shocking, coming back from Cinema, saw a car on it's roof, having obliterated a concrete trafic island and a lampost - bit off topic I know, but the route to Stirling isn't one that's prone to flooding, not many railways that are susceptible to flooding in Scotland. Maybe the Suburban Line in Edinburgh at points, but it's fine for the most part.

Hardly rainy today or yesterday! The North East seems to be having some issues with flooding, but that's about it!

The biggest problem on Edinburgh to Glasgow/Stirling was traditionally flooding in and around Winchburgh Tunnel, which resulted in diversions via a reversal at Dalmeny. I seem to remember some remedial work there a while back, and it now rarely seems a problem.

Thank you all for the advice and help. Not sure what happened about the weather warnings but it turned out to be a lovely day. I even caught the sun on my face it was that nice!

First time in a 170 Turbostar too, noisy but comfortable.
