Tghere are a few other trains going north that have been del;ayed, but typically on ten minuites or so. Scotsman is now over an hour late departing.

Could be technical, but more likely, given its notoriety, reports of trespass.

Why that particular locomotive gets all the attention is a mystery to me - its historical sugnificance is no greater than, say, Mallard or City of Truro..

EDIT As I type, TRTS is shown for it, but a southbound Transpennine is routed across its path so it will have to wait. OTT shows the line ahead is otherwise clear to beyond Thirsk

No idea what's happening. I'm coming from Dunbar so there's a very slim chance of me catching it if it's delayed any more.

Give me a wave as you go past, in a field on the west side of the line, just south of Thornton le moor. A little damp

I wonder if the plan is for it to follow 9E13 (due off York 1522) which itself is due to follow 1S18 (a couple of minutes down but due off 1520)?

Reading between ALL the wibble on the York ROC, issues with the coupling. Some reason between coaches 3 and 4, others with the generator coach at the back. SO much tension and cr*p as to whether it will go or not. Latest is it is now cancelled

Seen on FB that Scotsman will not haul the charter, also that a brake fault on a coach.

Picture below taken from 'The Rail Scene' on FB.

Somebody onboard has reported a brake fault on a Pullman coach too. Looks like it’s not happening today.

odd, since I understand the whole train came up from Finsbury Park behind a 67. So why there should be a coupling fault now is a little odd. (unless between FS's support coach, oif tyhere is omne, and the carriage behind it)

That I don't know, so many irrelevant comments on the railcam ROC page it is hard to pick out the relevant ones. One comment did reference a heavy shunt in from FS, but I would not want to agree or not.

That will be the 67 (67007) back on the consist, having meant to stable until later in the parcel sidings

Hmm I guess if there was a heavy shunt that could explain why couplings that were presumably fine between Finsbury Park and York suddenly weren't any more. Though it would have to be a really heavy shunt you'd think! All guess work of course for the time being!

Reported elsewhere as rough shunt during coupling.

Latest is it will leave, steam hauled to Newcastle then 67 back from Newcastle and all way to Finsbury Park (as against just from York)

Ah hence the appearance of 0Z72 at the rear, that'll be the 67 dropping back onto the formation.

I've just returned from a couple hours at Newcastle station, having decided to wait and see "The Flying Scotsman" which was expected shortly after 3:00pm

Having seen it was still sitting on platform 11 at York, I decided to leave .. didn't want to be mixed up with hundreds of football fans too on the Metro home.

Just seen it finally left at about 16:10.

Has anybody have any idea how long it will be staying at Newcastle station for ?

It's a masterstroke by those in charge. Delay, delay and delay again so everyone goes home. Minimal risk of trespass!

Not likely to be very long I would expect. As the charter was supposed to depart back south at 1730 and currently isn't expected to arrive until around 1740! It'll arrive and immediately depart again I reckon.

With or without 60103 on the back, I wonder? (The 67 is already in the right place)

Thanks .. a friend thought about going to see it, but decided against it.

He has actually just bought himself a Flying Scotsman train set .. having last had a model railway in the 60s

I would assume with as it was supposed to come off at York but then perhaps they'll want to leave it behind so the charter can run at 100mph back down the ECML rathern than 75?

Very sensible, it's only just passing through Durham a few minutes ago!

Probably best not to think about the price inflation that the hobby has seen since he last had a model railway ;)
