London area to Manea - LNER pricing

Just to provoke a bit of thought here. It seems that a passenger wanting a return from stations in the London zones (other than London Terminals) to Manea are looking at two rather expensive singles, as it's a flow priced by LNER.

This seems a bit anomalous to me. The journey time from King's Cross via Ely is shorter and it's around 14 miles shorter than going via Peterborough. Even an Enfield Lock to Manea Not Via London ticket is priced by LNER.

Should journeys from the London area to Manea really be subject to LNER's trial pricing?

It's perfectly reasonable to want to travel via Peterborough (especially during the frequent engineering works around Cambridge) and therefore LNER are inevitably going to be involved in the pricing, at least for flows to/from/via London.

However, the fares should be the same as those to/from March - where you have cheaper "via Cambridge" and "TLGN & Connections" fares. That would allow you to make a choice between price and flexibility.

There's no justification for the Enfield Lock "not via London" fares being priced by LNER though - they don't have any validity on the ECML; you have to go via Ely.

LNER's single leg pricing isn't a trial.

It's not a mapped route and it's not within 3 miles of the shortest route, so I don't think so.
