Supposedly there to ease crowding on very busy Golden Valley and Avon route on Saturday mornings. Quite a quirky service as it misses out Gloucester but gives Stonehouse, Stroud and Kemble a direct service to Bath and Bristol which must be rare. So probably quite popular for day trips in summer and for the Christmas markets.

That routing looks odd, so it definitely has to be a special service put on for the Christmas Market.

Nope. Booked working. Runs every Saturday, once a day in one direction only.

Just seen today's 1Z73 from return leg from Bath Spa to Three Bridges pass through Bradford on Avon.

Rare sight of doubled headed steam train working an excursion.

think a West Country (missed number) was 2nd Engine

Had been failed on Wednesday and was repaired at East Depot and double headed with Mayflower today to go back today.

As someone who used to have to cross Bath heading for Newton St. Looe will know that Bath is a nightmare at any time driving.

I had to drive a relative to the Royal United Hospital and back from the direction of the A4 east, and traffic was actually quite a bit better than when I've done this previously.

Bath also has the added attraction of decent pubs and gets very busy when the Bath Rugby are in town - Sat 6th of Dec is the next home fixture so be especially extra busy.

It was indeed - compounded by a tree down at Avoncliff affecting trains towards Westbury and later cancellation of what would have been their return workings. But there was some good marshalling of passengers on the platform by a GWR person with a roving mike who had just the right mix of authority and humour.
