I understand that 93008 and 10 went through Rugby earlier en route to Derby RTC to Wolverton with barrier vehicles.
Working to Longsight around 11am so fair probability they will be on that.

I saw the pair stabled at Doncaster this afternoon. My first view of 93s.
Would someone be able to kindly confirm that the x2 93’s stabled at Doncaster (in view of the platforms) were 93008 and 93010 if passing on a stopping LNER service train southbound at exactly 16:15 on Friday 28th Nov please?

Yes, only two that were away from Worksop....theyve now moved on to Derby RTC as of yesterday 30/11

It would appear from reports that only 93003, 93007 and 93009 have NOT been used in revenue service yet (as opposed to trial running). Anyone able to confirm or dispute this. 93003 & 93009 did attend the Greatest Gathering at Derby, running from and returning to Worksop light, but would we regard this as revenue earning ?

7Q32, 1057 Wolverton Centre Sidings to Longsight TMD, also posted in the Class 68 and Mk5a Thread,
Saw 933008, attatched to DT12801, hauling the set under its own power ie from the overheads, with a barrier vehicle at the rear of the set, and 933010 locomotive tralling, at the very end,

On the basis of this info being correct, can anyone advise when the first revenue earning runs were (roughly) for 93001 & 93004 please?

I have both 93001 & 93004 first used in revenue service 28.10.25, but I have not recorded what the service was but it should be traceable.

Most likely a 175 transfer?
Yes, they started off working the barrier vehicles from Derby to Ely on 28th, for the 175 move a day or so later:
The odd thing (perhaps simply coincidence) regarding 93003/07/09 which have not yet worked proper revenue services yet, is that all three have attended "events", but I don't think these moves could be regarded as "revenue":
93007 ran for Worksop to Long Marston 18.06.25 for the RAIL LIVE event, while 93003 & 93009 ran light from Worksop to Derby 28.07.25 for the GREATEST GATHERING event. All other moves which they have made seem to be "xQxx" test or trial runs which are not revenue.

Did 005 have any revenue traffic before the event at Marnham?
I have 93005 as working first revenue job 28.10.25, in fact I have 93001/04/05 as all working first revenue jobs on this date: I have misquoted the actual workings mentioned in posts above, from avaliable data on this site it would appear that 93004 & 93005 did the quoted Derby-Ely barrier vehicle move for the 175 movement, while 93001 did a Gascoign Wood to Soho 730 transfer.

…of course they’re relatively busy now, and look to be displacing 37’s from their work.
You must have a different definition of busy to me, then, as using 3 or 4 per day maximum out of 10 isn’t exactly onerous.

I also can’t see how the sort of work they are being used on can be profitable given these are brand new, expensive locos.

Is there a nickname for this class yet?
I've not heard one yet that's stuck. Here's my suggestion: Triceratops. The tri bit is self-explanatory and some Triceratops were green. Plus, on some level, the loco's seem similarly proportioned to this species.

Probably need to be known as twinz or shadows because they seem to go nearly everywhere in pairs !!

Seriously though, As I understand it the 93s were to replace the ROG/EPX 37s on stock and unit drags but these have a variety of couplers - Dellner, Scharfenberg and Tightlock. The 93s were delivered with autocouplers but these have been removed, and I have yet to see anything other than the two "heavy" ROG 37s hauling the 455s for scrap.

You don't need to either "see how" or worry about this sort of thing. That is ROG's concern and nobody elses but as they are an operational business with lots of people who understand the business they are in running things, I imagine they are quite capable of costing jobs to ensure they are making money.

I believe this has been touched on before, but now Rail Magazine reporting Class 93s are to be part of a high-speed freight trial:

GoLink Advisory Group is looking to run a trial of a new high-speed railfreight operation designed specifically for the courier, express, parcel (CEP) sector.

The operation is planned to use trains hauled by Rail Operations Group (ROG) Class 93s and then electric HGVs to, it says, “create a fully integrated, low-carbon transport solution for long-distance linehaul networks”.

The operation will be run by working with DPD UK as a partner and will receive up to £130,000 from the Department for Transport’s Freight Innovation Fund.

GoLink has said: “We aim to prove that high-speed rail can provide a competitive, sustainable option for parcel operators and open up wider market opportunities across the UK logistics industry.”

It is the latest in a long line of trials for railfreight to tackle the high-speed, low-weight, logistics market with recent trains by ROG itself with its Orion Class 319/768s and more recently Varamis running from Mossend to Birmingham using Class 321 electric multiple units.

Both failed to reach the loadings envisaged with ROG scrapping its unit and Varamis operations paused since the summer.

GoLink said: “What makes our solution different is the combination of speed, digital visibility, standardised unitisation and seamless transfer between road and rail. Traditional railfreight is often slow, rigid and not trusted by parcel operators.

“Our approach is designed around their needs, offering faster ‘on rail’ performance, real-time tracking and reliable ‘to the minute’ arrivals. This gives delivery companies a genuine alternative to road and air freight that is both greener and more efficient.”

The firm believes the trial will “demonstrate that time-critical volume can move quickly and reliably by rail, while connecting smoothly into existing road-based networks.” It plans to test end-to-end journey times, the trans-shipment process between electric vehicles and rail wagons and the digital platform that allows customers to track end-to-end multi-modal network operations in real time.

RAIL understands the hope is for the trial to begin in March 2026.

Route plans are yet to be confirmed.
