Sort of, I consider those more privately owned as along with 40711 they are kept at private sites and unlikely to be running in pres for some time (particularly 353). The same going for the two on a farm in Cambridgeshire, and the ex LNER Farewell rake (not yet converted to camping coaches).

I’ll add in 40900 though.

I saw an HST at Birmingham New Street around 4pm on Sunday. Every coach had a different livery including the 2 power cars. Was it one of the preserved HSTs?

Looks to have been a Locomotive Services' stock move from Toton back to their Crewe base.

there were 2 HST through Brum at essentially the same time on Sunday:
  • Blue Pullman that worked a Nottingham > Paignton and back posho tour ( passing through New Street en route to Crewe)
  • 125 Group set that worked from London to Weardale and back ( and was passing through Brum en route to Barrow Hill from Wemberlee)

From the description I suspect the later was seen.

(Both passed Fenny Stratford over the weekend and I was away so saw neither - meaning I still haven't seen an HST on the Marston Vale!)

Ah, yeah, didn't spot the 125 Group working (or didn't recognise what it might be), despite the two workings being adjacent on Realtime Trains.

That was the 125 Group set on the 'Locomotion & Weardale' tour, one Rio power car, one EM power car, one GW green coach, one Inter City coach and five EM coaches

Thread reopened for update
Cheers @Mag_seven

So I thought it’s time to give this thread a little update following further news from the 125Group.

Thanks to our friends at Romic and in partnership with Romic Group, we're pleased to be taking delivery of power car 43190. This concludes a deal to swap some redundant MK3 coaches for a HST power car, to use as a spares donor.
Many thanks to the team at Romic who have been excellent and very supportive of preserved HST users in the UK, recognising the challenges we face in accessing spares. 43190 will provide the missing pieces of our spares pool, so that we may keep our fleet operational well into the future, but also make improvements by providing float items to allow material to go away for overhaul.

Members will find out our full plans in the next edition of our magazine; One Two Five.

I will also provide an update to the table above as several vehicles are also undergoing repaint / move to new bases as well.

Any idea what MK3s went the other way?
12087, 12134, 10202, 10206.

I have a feeling 12087 went to a private buyer with the latter 3 going to Romic. 12134 has since been sold on by Romic to a new owner based by the East Kent Railway.

I'm a bit confused... at the Greatest Gathering, 159 Rio Warrier and 060 (numbered as 200) were linked up to a set of Mk3s - but they are owned by different groups? Is that right?

Yes.

43159 and the Mk3s at the GG are owned and operated by the 125Group.

43060 is owned and operated by 125 Preservation.

However, both groups co-exist to both preserve, maintain and continue the history of the HST / Intercity 125 and have a healthy working relationship together, which allows a lot of us to share expertise together between the two groups. 43060 was already due to visit Derby as part of the GG, and things all rather fell into place this year resulting in a temporary loan of each others power cars - 060 to 125Group and 089 to 125 Preservation in return. It helps keeping each other’s power cars in a mainline ready condition!

The best way to learn more about this however is to join the 125Group where you’ll receive a quarterly magazine whilst helping us to continue to keep the legacy of them alive.

Meant to say. 12134 is a MK3a (Not HST). Has buffers. So would of been used with electric sets. Was originally in virgin trains livery before repaint. 12087 was originally also MK3a loco haul too.

Cheers, all were loco hauled Mk3s that have been sold on. With HST Power Cars now being the mainstay of the fleet (and rightly so for the 125 Group) there was no need for the loco hauled Mk3A & Mk3Bs in the fleet, hence the gradual selling off of them to private buyers and trade with Romic Group.

Thanks for clarifying - hadn’t even crossed my mind they had different owners until I read this. The cooperation sounds excellent.

43063 at the Plym Valley Railway has just been released in Intercity Swallow livery for HST 50. Note, as before this is a non-runner.

That looks great!
(No doubt there'll be comments grumbling that it's the slightly wrong shade of red stripe or something!)

Are there plans to get it running? Or is it more of a "sit there and look pretty" thing?

Based on their comments on Facebook, there is no intention to obtain and refit a power unit, and it has apparently been stripped of other internal components as well, so will remain a static exhibit.

The livery application looks absolutely spot on.
