You don't know whether they were working perfectly until last week or not. Bearing in mind they aren't supposed to enter service yet, the official launch is in December

Another possible reason could be the recent very cold weather and sub-zero nighttime temperature. For example if left shutdown the Stadler fleet will automatically dump the toilet tank to reduce the risk of damage.

So they have been testing successfully for months, and now on the eve of service all the toilets simultaneously pack up? Respectfully, I don’t buy it.

I'm assuming this is the "fresh" water for the flush, not foul water retention tank?
Regardless, a sensible thing to do, even if it means toilets may be out of use

Yes it’s the fresh water. I’ve had 745s where unfortunatley all toilets have done this. Often happened after weekend overhead isolations.
Hopefully next Tuesday will be the official launch, that’s if the toilets have been sorted.

This is exactly why there are testing periods. Another problem successfully identified, traced and now a solution can be designed and implemented (in this case, one hopes a fairly simple software tweak).

I'd like to think that there was some bog-standard software logic solution here...
Oh, for the days of simple bots and latches, instead of trains being delayed into service because you can't unlock the toilet from the inside. I think the usual problem is that they can be accidentally locked closed (and thus out of use) from the outside

Now now, it's no use blaming the cistern.
I noticed 810006 had a test run cut short on Monday 24/11, and then did a short-notice test Wednesday (27/11).
This made me think that perhaps the locking in occurred on Monday's test, and perhaps a fix was tested yesterday. If so, I pity the poor technicians that presumably were locking, flushing and unlocking all the way to Leicester and back...
Anyway, fingers crossed, as EMR appear to be sending out 23 out of 24 Cl222 on most weekdays at the moment, and I doubt that can be sustained for long.
I've been BOWL-ed over by them......

Amen! I stopped reading the thread the other day when they started and only just dipped back in to see if they stopped, so I certainly wouldn't have been providing any gen if I had it (which I currently, alas, do not!). Nothing makes me cringe more, see also inevitable banal nonsense when trains hit cows.

Hopefully, the fact we’re practically in December means that minds will be focussed on getting the gremlins sorted. At least if they get a single diagram up and running, it’ll be a good achievement.

I’d be making comparisons with 2 LAV units if it wasn’t off topic
