Just gone past Gloucester depot on London Road and 27713 was in the shed (Banbury-based). Not sure if this is back in Gloucester for good or just a holiday.
27712/13/14/19 are indeed back at Gloucester because the Stagecoach Oxfordshire route S4 is going Double decker so 15976/86/91/92 have transferred to Banbury in exchange for the e300s to come to Gloucester for 28681/82/83/84/85 to be transferred to Swindon.

I’ve not seen it publicised anywhere, but it seems the 9 in Bristol has had 3 evening trips added both ways from 9pm to 11pm.

Crikey. I hope somebody has told the operative from Bristol City Council who locks the site up in the evening to leave it a few hours later. I don't really see what the point of an hourly service is though.

Neither do I: perhaps an attempt to compete with the Severn Beach line of which the last train is 2224. Provides an evening service of sorts to anyone living on the Portway and down around Dursley Road / The Lamplighters I suppose.

They should have a bus from Bristol City Centre to Severn Beach as currently people will have to go all the way to Bristol Temple Meads from the city centre to get the train to Severn Beach whereas if there was a bus service then that would mean that they would not have to go all the way to Temple Meads and will be able to get a bus to Severn Beach.

There used to be one which was numbered as Service 624. It ran at convenient times and its route included Clifton Down and the Clifton Triangle before the City Centre. It was withdrawn due to lack of patronage: certainly, from what I remember, it never seemed more than half full most of the time. I guess people nowadays get off the train at Clifton Down and then get onward connections (plenty of buses) to the City Centre and Broadmead which can, I think, be done with a Plusbus ticket.

ISTR that the 624 was withdrawn when they souped up the 625 (now 12) to hourly.

Not sure that I've seen this reported anywhere, but back in N&P last month there was an application for Red & White Services Ltd (t/a Stagecoach South Wales) to open a base with an authosiation of 88 vehicles at the current Patchway depot of Stagecoach West. It's not showing as approved yet, mind...

Stagecoach Wales is taking over the Bristol depot as part of management changes. Goodness knows why but thats the plan.

Rebalancing of workload as Stagecoach West has c.450 vehicles across Glos/Oxon and Stagecoach Wales has c.260?
Stagecoach West in the news today for receiving their first electric vehicle which they say will enter service within a month. Does this include any in Bristol or is it just Gloucestershire. Let’s hope so.

88 vehicles? I wonder what the depot's current PVR is: perhaps they are expecting an expansion of work?

Wouldn't an operator always apply for the maximum number of vehicles a depot could accommodate even if they had no intention of using all the capacity?

I believe Bristol is moving from West to South Wales. So I presume once the new authorisation is granted, the old will be given up.
I think you misinterpreted what I meant. That the 88 is a historical figure (on the current West authorisation and probably relating to when they had a load of Megabus work), and that they are merely using that same figure on the new Stagecoach Wales application, rather than it being a reflection on the current PVR.
Do they still have vehicles to hand back to Cheltenham? Shame they aren’t part of the West new electric plans which only seem to be Gloucester and Cheltenham.
The Patchway depot is really quite small so they are focussing on the main depots (i.e. Cheltenham and Gloucester) at the moment.

Has a date been given yet for the transfer of the Patchway depot to Red & White (t/a Stagecoach South Wales)?
Bustimes is now showing that Stagecoach South Wales is running the Patchway-based routes from this coming Sunday, 18th January 2026. No sign of any services being allocated to the PH discs for Red & White yet though on DVSA website or on bustimes.

e.g. this is the link to the new timetable from the 18th for the Bristol 10.

Mind you, the Stagecoach West entries haven't been cancelled here yet...

Thanks for the info.
I’ll keep a look out for any changes to the legal lettering.

TravelWest administers all of the registrations for routes which run solely within their area (of which all of the Stagecoach network falls under) and they are being a bit slow at the moment.
TravelWest / WECA have a lot going on currently. They are dragging their heels over retendering a significant number of bus service contracts which are due to expire in April, despite their own deadline for registrations being Friday 23rd January (let alone conducting a full tender round). Their punctuality on updating their spreadsheet of registrations has been very poor since they took on the powers.

It's almost as if registrations should never have been devolved. All it has done is lead to more fragmentation of data, poorer data quality and more scope for our highly skilled professionals in LTAs to prove their incompetence. I am sure the only reason some people are employed in LTAs is because they want to get long term unemployment stats down locally. Because they certainly aren't hired because they are good at their jobs anymore!

Side note though, you should probably write a book or return to doing your blog as it never fails to amaze me just how bad TravelWest/WECA are.

I certainly agree with your sentiments about devolving registrations. The absolute minimum standard should have been to deliver data to any of the sources usually fed by Leeds with conditions on timeliness, but neither of these are met.

Thank you for the vote of confidence in the blog. In all honesty, i've only stopped posting because i don't feel my commentary would be fair at the moment given that i'm on something of a sabbatical from operating my own services.
