Is it possible to get a discount on a season ticket for a spouse?

Also, she gets free leisure travel but it seems unfair that, because she needs to get a season ticket, that makes the Leisure travel benefit void, because she will have a season ticket anyway!

I’ve misunderstood, it seems that your wife has a pass that allows unlimited leisure travel on the TOC you work for?

This cannot be used to commute to work which is what your query is. While frustrating, if it was allowed for commuting then there’d probably have to be a benefit in kind tax liability. Also, many would question whether the railway should be subsidising the travel of a member of staff’s family to non-railway work.

Your wife is able to buy discounted tickets for leisure travel on lines not covered by the season ticket.
