A quick bit of language research suggests a Marathi-speaking area of India, probably Maharashtra state, but with a big area and an extensive rail system, I’m still none the wiser!

Might make it too easy as this station is on the only Line in the Country! However another clue may narrow it down:
Most of the trains run overnight, but there are no no sleeping berths, only seats.

Lastourville looks like a good candidate. Or is it Lastoursville? Maps vary, but the actual station doesn't seem to have the 's' that's in the adjacent town.

Correct! Lastoursville in Gabon. Moanda is actually in Democratic Republic of the Congo which was one of the guesses. Franceville and Libreville were in the right area though - at both ends of the line. Only one line in Gabon with 6 Stations so easy to narrow down once you know it's Gabon.Lastourville looks like a good candidate. Or is it Lastoursville? Ah! Some confusion there. Yes, there is a Moanda in the DRC, but I (and presumably @Mag_seven) was referring to the Moanda which is the next station along the Transgabonais from Franceville, and definitely in Gabon. It's also the case that on some maps it's spelled Mouanda.
Also, if you are on the 'Omnibus', rather than the 'Express', there are a great many more than six or seven stations!
