According to Westmoreland Council, a replacement for the suspended 572 will start shortly with details to be published when known. Does anybody know anything about it? Source from the Westmoreland Council website below. They are also additionally saying the same thing for the 571 and are saying additional journeys will be added to the 106 on a Thursday to replace the 570, source from Westmoreland Council also below.

Info has since been updated via those links, Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire 'Lonsdale Buses' will be running the 570 Brough - Kendal on Mondays and the 572 Kendal - Barnard Castle on Wednesdays, plus additionally operating the existing 106 on Thursdays which largely replaces the previous 571, these start with the 570 on December 1st.

That's brilliant news, and I bet the £3 fare cap will apply as well, wasn't expecting the 572 to be replaced that's for sure. It'll be a bonus if it serves Middleton in Teesdale. Good to see Kirkby Lonsdale expanding even further and it's even better that Kendal will have a direct link to Barnard Castle, although we may need duplicates as it's a popular route around Ravonstonedale and Kirkby Stephen.

As far as I know the £3 fare cap will be used as it is on the 106 but for the first trip at least on the 572 it's an emergency route registration (short notice) so no fares can be taken. I've been out today for route familiarisation (I'm going to be the regular driver) and there has been a slight adjustment to the route through Ravenstonedale whereas it will turn off the A685 and go through the village and turn around in the Fat Lamb then down the A683 to Kirkby Stephen train station! Otherwise it's much the same. Sadly it won't be serving Middleton in Teesdale as this was a summer only route previously however things may change. Go easy on me if I do make mistakes as it's not an area I'm overly familiar with.
Hope to see you soon!
