Have there been any fleet changes at Holbrook recently? I used to see single-deckers quite regularly on the 7 but the last few days have only had E400s

Atrocious reliability of the Trident E400s from Manchester seems to be the leading cause of saloons transferring to Holbrook.

"New Fares from 4th January" stickers are starting to appear on buses... but there is no information (or not that I can easily find) on Stagecoach's website about what the "New Fares" entail...
The 7 is almost entirely E400s now, when not that long ago most boards seemed to be E200s.
They also put an E400 on the 6 yesterday evening which is very uncommon. It seems the loaner MCV Evora, that has been a regular feature on the 6 for the last year or thereabouts, hasn't run for about a week, so perhaps that is either having issues or has been returned.

Surely passengers seeing a "New Fares" sticker would expect to find further information on either the Stagecoach or Travel South Yorkshire websites. The fact that it doesn't seem to be on either of those is really not a great look.
Yes, I agree. I picked one up at Sheffield Interchange this evening and it's one of the best things I've seen since the old East Midland timetable booklet.
Had to smile at the Pronto pages though, the last bus from Nottingham, Monday to Saturday departs at 2420 and arrives in Mansfield at 2500!
I take it there's no similar publication for the Mansfield area?
For those of us who live on the route that makes perfect sense!!. I would be surprised (but pleased) if a Mansfield booklet is produced as that is SEM rather than SY. East Midlands include a full timetable for all routes on their website under Promos and Offers. I don’t know that many Stagecoach units do.

Nothing too nasty this time. My only grump is the EveningRider is no longer a nice round number...
Only Chesterfield. Sheffield did put a Zebra bid in, but it wasn't accepted.
SYMCA do have plans for electrification post-franchising, but currently the only electric buses in Sheffield itself are those on the city centre circulars. Even the Hybrids have been moved on.
I thought one of the 2 Sheffield depots did get electric but obviously I was incorrectly informed
Rotherham got some, but not Sheffield.

Because Ecclesfield is in the very north of Sheffield and Holbrook in the very South East. You’d need to replace two depots and you’d lose half your drivers.
There are numerous electric buses in Sheffield… all originating from or heading towards Chesterfield!
Routes 43 44 50 50a X17 and possibly the occasional journey on Route 65 to/from Buxton.

One (Ecclesfield) is ex Sheffield Omnibus, the other (Holbrook) is ex Yorkshire Terrier - having two depots means that they attract staff from both sides of the city, whereas First have slimmed down to just one depot on the fringes of the city centre
Whilst enthusiasts generally over-egg dead running, having depots close to where many of their routes terminate (or at last pass) must make a lot of operational sense
Given franchising is around the corner, replacing the two Stagecoach depots with one big central one wouldn't offer anything that First's Olive Grove doesn't already
Many cities have multiple depots, if anything Sheffield is a bit odd for having just one depot for the main operator, compared to cities of this size (in fact, since Olive Grove runs much of the local Rotherham network, since Midland Road closed), it's even more stretched

Isn't Holbrook fairly close to Chesterfield Depot though so surly could merge or is there still a massive gap in area?

That wasn’t the question you asked - you said about merging the Sheffield depots!
You couldn’t accommodate Chesterfield into Holbrook. Lack of space. Would be a struggle to accommodate into Chesterfield and you still have the issue of driver retention and trying to manage driver reliefs a distance away from base; the closure of Chester le Street by Go Ahead shows the impact of that on service delivery.

Not that close really when all factors are considered. It's not just the 9 miles / 20 minutes between then, it's the fact timetables are cast based on movements from a particular depot and staff are likely not to be happy at having a longer commute in many cases.
Also, Holbrook is about to fall under franchising so will be bought by SYMCA, while Chesterfield will remain as the only part of Stagecoach Yorkshire. Question is, will it be re-named Stagecoach Derbyshire, or will there be a merger or rearrangement of the various East Midlands depots / operations.
