Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
He's already put into plan his next stall. By instructing the FBI / DOJ to investigate possible involvement by some high ranking Democrats, he's activated the "can't release whilst there is a live investigation ongoing" clause. So he can sit on the bits that are potentially damaging for him, whilst leaking info on his enemies.
Can't help but agree there. Divert and distract, point at democrat opponents while sitting on the really damaging stuff for as long as possible.

This is a possibly AI-generated image of the White House this morning...
Yeah..laughed at that way more than I should have  More than likely some truth in it though bearing in mind the scenario @Bantamzen outlined.

You can almost guarantee that there will be an investigation into Democratic names, So, effectively silencing people,

How I think this is going to play out is, that another country will publish the full unredacted report, and he will of course double down, by then, the mid-terms will be approaching fast, he will try everything to stall it, but the states will carry on, and the results will be very bad for the DOP,

Trump will be impeached and removed by the 25th amendment article's the GOP will abandon him, he will try to ferment civil war, and end up fleeing the country, possibly going to a country that will be friendly towards him.

What other country (besides Russia) will be able to publish the full report unredacted?

Sorry, what I should have said is journalists in another country, will find a way to see that the full report is published, and If Trumps usefulness is over, I could see Putin giving the nod to the release of whatever kompromat they have on him,

There are plenty of journalists in the USA who would love to be the one who breaks the story.

I wonder if Private Eye might be the ones to publish some redacted stuff from the files, they're not generally known to care about threats to sue.

Well he says he’s signed it.

US President Donald Trump has announced that he has signed a bill ordering the release of government files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The bill requires the US justice department to release within 30 days all information that it holds on investigations into Epstein.
However, some of these documents could be withheld if they relate to an active investigation or are deemed to invade personal privacy.
Trump reversed his opposition to releasing the files, after pushback from Epstein's victims and members of his own Republican Party. With his support, the legislation overwhelmingly cleared both chambers of Congress earlier this week.
Until recently, Trump had dismissed the need to release the documents, recently calling it a Democrat-led "hoax" to "deflect" attention away from his party's work. That position was itself a change from the stance he took ahead of the 2024
"Perhaps the truth about these Democrats, and their associations with Jeffrey Epstein, will soon be revealed, because I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!" he wrote.

Dear Leader has obviously had his hands tied by those dastardly Democrats all this time, with him trying to get the files out and them trying to keep them wrapped up. We must all have been confused when we thought it was him trying to block the release and them trying to get the out.

30 days, that'll be a nice Christmas present (not for him though).
30 days to duck, dive and dodge, before declaring that some of the files cannot be released due to "National Security Threats", especially the bits involving Republicans (that he likes at the moment)...

No one really seems to have picked up on the fact that Trump has had this evidence for at least the last 4 years and is only now pursuing Democrats; this either shows he didn’t/doesn’t care about the Epstein survivors as he didn’t order the investigation sooner or that he knew that the Epstein files weren’t actually a fake and had at least some idea that they were genuine.

Ahh, but you are forgetting that he tells so many lies, he can't remember what the truth is anymore....
And anyone who disagrees with him gets moved on, sacked, threatened with legal action or has threats to their funding or other threats to their operations or potential operations...

Ah, but the files are a hoax where they refer to Trump or other Republicans, but 100% true and accurate where they mention Democrats.

What do we make of DJT saying that Congresspeople and Senators are guilty of sedition and should be subject to execution for having the audacity to suggest that members of the US armed forces have a responsibility to refuse to obey unlawful orders?
Donald Trump has accused six Democratic lawmakers of "seditious behaviour, punishable by death", after they released a video urging US service members to refuse unlawful commands.

"This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand," the US President wrote on social media.

The six lawmakers, all of whom have served in the military or intelligence community, called Trump's remarks dangerous and said they amounted to threats against elected officials.

Just another example of the complete chaos and insanity of the US establishment at the moment, and the complete irrationality of what Trump says and, unfortunately, does or may do. It really is becoming more and more obvious that he is no longer fit to fulfil the duties of President.

That as every day passes, it's another day where more of his brain degrades to mush. His words, language, anger and frustration will continue to get worse. As will his paranoia.

I understand that MTG is resigning her seat, because of death threats, made to her for daring to speak out against the cult leader,
it's only going to get darker, in the US as trump throws everyone under the bus, who upsets his fragile ego, it's clear that the cult is now eating itself. How will trumps term end? most likely with his base firing on the military, when they are sent to remove him.

'There are good people on both sides'.

I hope MtG has realised that despite supporting the line that the lunatic left are as dangerous, or more dangerous, than the right - she's been fine when her opposition was the left, but all of a sudden she's receiving threats daily now she's upset the right.

Funny that.

To paraphrase Thatcher, "the problem with Trumpism/Johnsonism is that you eventually run out of other people to throw under a bus."

Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced she will resign from office, an unexpected turn for the high-profile Republican.
One of Donald Trump's Maga superstars and staunchest defenders, the Georgia congresswoman's relentless calls for releasing files related to late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and recent criticism of some of his policies led to a bitter public feud.
After the US president labelled her a "traitor", she said in a video announcing her departure: "I refuse to be a 'battered wife' hoping it all goes away and gets better."
Trump, who had threatened to support a Republican challenger to unseat Greene, called her resignation "great news for the country" in an interview with ABC News.
She said in her video statement, posted on social media, that she would leave the US Congress on 5 January 2026.
Greene said in the announcement that she did "not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the president we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms".
She had been one of the loudest demanding the release of documents related to Epstein, an issue that once united Trump and his base but has since become divisive.
Trump had spent months arguing that the issue was a distraction concocted by his political detractors to divert attention from his administration's achievements.
"Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked and used by rich powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for," Greene said in her resignation letter.

Even more weirdly, Trump and NY mayor elect Mamdani seem to have buried the hatchet, and not (yet) in each other's heads.
US President Donald Trump met New York City's newly elected mayor Zohran Mamdani at the White House in what was billed as the political showdown of the year - but instead became a praise fest.

In his election victory speech, the self-described Democratic socialist mayor called Trump a "despot".

And before Friday's meeting, the president's spokeswoman had billed Mamdani's visit as a "communist coming to the White House".

But standing side-by-side in the Oval Office, the two men struck a surprisingly conciliatory tone.

Over and over, both men emphasised their shared interest in addressing New York City's affordability crisis. They smiled often, and Trump even appeared amused as reporters asked him about the political attacks Mamdani had fired his way.

The tone of the meeting appeared to strike political observers off-guard, but offered a signal that both men understand that tackling the affordability crisis is critical to their political success.

Whether the truce will last once Mamdani takes office on 1 January remains to be seen.

What Mamdani gets out of this I do not know, possibly the appearance of being magnanimous in victory and constructive. As for Trump, one can only presume that it is all part of what he sees as a clever plan to come out on top, though what such a plan could be and result in is difficult to tell because few of us are able to get on to the same level as his scrambled brain. It is just another sign of the worrying way things are developing: with Trump being vindictive we know where we are, but with him being nice…

It's very hard to figure Trump out right now. His dementia means we're certain to hear more insults as he finds it hard to control what he says (it can't be long until he says something even more offensive than 'piggy'), but in the flip side, I think his recent comments about getting into heaven makes me wonder if he's also considering his mortality - likely knowing that all is not well from the extra medical checks of late.

He's certainly increasingly unpredictable and I do keep wondering what the Heritage Foundation wants to do with him. Can they still get him to say and sign anything they want? Or do they seek to throw him under the bus to move on to the next phase?

I do expect that they will attempt to remove him, once he becomes a liability, and can't be controlled, he will, of course turn on them, as he wants power without any accountability, and he will destroy the republican party to stay in power, as he sees himself as a supreme leader, above politics, except where his vengeance come into it, he just uses people to shield himself, and to do his bidding even if its breaking their sworn oaths,

He can turn on them, but by then people will have 'broken free' and he'll be left out in the cold.

His power over people is already starting to fade. I think too many Republicans are considering their futures post-Trump now.
