Huddersfield, twice. The first time (in the 1980s, I think) created a new P2 for services to/from Penistone, the second time was earlier this year to create a longer P1 (was P2) for services to/from… Penistone.Huddersfield?, Swindon?

Broomfleet too I think. The platforms at Gilberdyke. The formation used to be 4-track - the central 2 tracks were retained and new platforms built over the trackbed of the old outer tracks.
Also the Hull bound Platform at Ferriby, the Westbound one is on a loopBroomfleet too I think.
Swindon Pt 4 covers the former DN Goods line.Swindon - down platform was closed for passengers and used for mails/parcels. It was later rebuilt and reopened for passenger trains.
I took a photo from the footbridge, the arrow points to the original platform edge, alongside the short temporary platform sitting over the original P4 trackbed. The new build is almost complete in the foreground, and gives a good idea of the extra width at that point. However the significant widening is all at the east end and middle, and tapers away to almost nothing at the west end.Reading -- in the rebuild a few years ago, the southernmost through platform (formerly 4, now 7) was widened over where the track used to be. I'm fairly certain there was a phase in the rebuilding when the old platform 9 (the northernmost through platform) was widened in a similar way with a temporary structure.

Euston (bank branch) is interesting as a section of the former northbound line still existed (exists?) at the Kings Cross end forming a centre running line northbound into the southbound platform. It took me a while to find out how my train did that during planned engineering work.On the Underground, 4 stations with inadequate island platforms on the Northern Line (Euston Bank branch, Angel, Bank and London Bridge) have been very expensively rebuilt with a new running tunnel and platform in one direction, and the other platform/concourse extended over the replaced track.
But the Eastleigh P1 track was not covered over by a built out platform, as per the original question, it was replaced by the car park and the new main entrance doors. When the old P1 track was removed the new P1 side of the island became narrower, you can see just a few yards of the old P1 at the very south end.Eastleigh platform 1 which used to be used for Romsey and Salisbury trains.
Yes. I'm old enough to remember when the goods roads were roughly where the platform 7 and 8 island is now.At Cambridge, did the upside island use some space previously occupied by track?
At Euston and Angel one platform is noticeably wider, because it originally had an island platform with tracks both sides, as still survives at two stations in Clapham. At London Bridge and more recently at Bank one of the platform tunnels was turned into a circulation area with a new platform tunnel on the other side.Euston (bank branch) is interesting as a section of the former northbound line still existed (exists?) at the Kings Cross end forming a centre running line northbound into the southbound platform. It took me a while to find out how my train did that during planned engineering work.
What's also interesting is that the original track was left in situ with the new platform built on top of it. You can just about see the old track in that small gap in the photo.I took a photo from the footbridge, the arrow points to the original platform edge, alongside the short temporary platform sitting over the original P4 trackbed. Yes, that was the case in a few of the Reading changes. I suspect it both saved time during a relatively short closure and meant the sleepers could be used as a reliable foundation for the temporary scaffolding. What's also interesting is that the original track was left in situ with the new platform built on top of it. Are you sure? I thought P6 was the old P3. Current P3 (and P2?) used to be track, I think; the former Wellington carriage sidings? Platforms 0 & 1 are roughly where the old Wellington platforms 5 & 6 were, P4 is roughly where old P1 was (which didn't exist until 1967, so might have been sidings as well.Platform 6 at Leeds during the 2001 remodelling. I've been sat on a 308 where the current platform is.
