Hello all,

Came across an advert for a grade two Signaller in Alrewas (Lichfield way).

Anyone have information on the box and it's shift pattern, typical workload etc.

Lever frame replaced by a panel. Works to EMCC (Derby) and Lichfield Trent Valley Junction SB. It also supervises the two Grade 1 crossings at Fine Lane and Roddige.

Typical traffic pattern (M-F), though many trains 'run as required', can be found Here

I'll make enquiries about the base roster/shift times.

Hi there, I'm in the same position as you. I passed all of the online stuff and am still waiting on an invite for an assessment day. I emailed them last week and got an "apology for the delay" reply. From reading this forum it seems pretty common for this process to take a few months.

Thanks for the reply, seems it's just going to take a little while before we know. I'm not sure whether it'll go against me, but when I had to list my other choices of location, none of the others were less than 50 mins away, so I was limited to high peak only. We'll see. Good luck with it all anyways, I hope you get good news.

Yeah the other options I selected were right on the limit of 50 minutes for me. As the position is based in the High Peak I'd hope the other locations wouldn't have a bearing on the outcome but that's purely guess work.

I got placed in the talent pool and then got a phone call a few days later from the onbarding team and it was a mobile number that called me. Hopefully you hear back soon.

You cannot have AL on a Bank Holiday. It does not come out of your quota, you are just Booked Off.

You can on my route. It’s deducted from your A/L allowance but you get a C/L day back.

As far as I'm aware I must have passed the online assessment as I have received an email stating they want to invite me for an assessment centre day, last Saturday another thanking me for my patience as there is a high volume of applicants. Does anyone have any advice on how long it takes generally from online assessment to F2F assessment day? What should I expect on the day? Can I do any pre-reading, aside from what is promoted on the NR webpage regarding news stories, 'who they are' etc. I'm from a non rail background, ex military previous to my current safety engineering role. Many thanks in advance of your advice.

It will range, I've just done my Assement day/ Interview virtually but looking at my emails. Got email saying passed all the intial bits on the 14th October. Then email/ phone call informing me made it to assesement day on the 4th November. Can be any amount of time and just my experience. For information etc you will be given all what you need to do as well.

Update - after an email stating I was going to be invited for assessment I got another today saying I've not been shortlisted. But my application is being held for 6 months. Very disappointing but I'll keep plugging away at my applications as and when opportunities arise.

Ashame to hear that.

First time I had the wait for a date and nothing until said all dates had gone. Still waiting to hear back but was on my second try past shortlisting etc. keep trying though.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure they do feedback after the proper interview, from what I’ve heard.

You’re quite possibly right on the location front.
