We were all under the impression that if the cameras fail, then the train gets dispatched by a dispatcher rather than the driver doing it through the cameras.

As was I. I suspect there may be a change of policy with regard to DOO CCTV failures.

Dispatchers assisting is workable for Stansted Express, but not for Cambridge services which serve stations that don't have them.

The one I was on this morning from Cambridge (no idea of the number) had a rather ropey sounding PA.

I think you misread me. I was saying all but 2 x 379 are now actually available for service, but not all drivers are trained - so we are saying the same thing - (I got my info from your post #395 ).

In fact, when I arrived at Stortford last night, there were four units standing ready for work. That was during the peak, which suggests the trains are willing but the drivers are not able (yet).

Since the first units arrived round about when they were planned to, is there a reason that NX has not been able to train its drivers to coincide with the units coming on stream?

I hope whoever we have controlling the service doesn't read that and take your advise! I want a quiet night tonight. Last thing I want is people complaining! Its Friday- everyone wants to get home for a nice weekend of sun and beer- or at least I do- at which point I'll make it clear regarding the beer that I'm not working this weekend. However, earlies on Monday

I'm not sure if they're going to be used at the weekends on Cambridge services, but if they are, then there will be set diagrams.

There's been eight of them parked at Cambridge all weekend the last couple of weeks- not in service.

Yeah, I've noticed that there's normally at least one unit parked in the siding, right in front of Platform 6.

One there, one in the siding that can only be reached by reversing from there, and two sets of three in the siding beside the wash road over to the east side.

Probably need to open a new thread, entitled "How do I stand when I miss one pre-booked train, because another TOC has let me down, when the two services were purchased separately"?!???!??!?

Crawled through Cheshunt, now running roughly at line speed with an extremely polite apology from the driver, who did provide updates, without describing the source problem (which he may not have been aware of). Top marks to NXEA if a trespasser caused the delay.

24 minutes down now. Estimated arrival time 1350, but I have no idea how much recovery time there is between Tottenham Hale and Liverpool Street. Not helped by an additional stop at Hackney Downs.

Are you on a 379? In which case the driver has 74 lights on the hi vis yellow front of the train, so should go full steam ahead and one toot of the horn to give the trespasser a sporting chance of getting out of the way :-x

LOL, if only drivers were that cold, delays on the railway would be reduced but carriage washes would need to have stronger detergents!

You were delayed due to a person "waiting for a train to hit them" at Cadmore Lane crossing. So, yes, top marks to NXEA for having drivers that pay attention and managing not to hit the person, or you'd have been delayed for a lot more than 24 minutes!!

I believe they were apprehended by the BTP.

Also you caught the tail end of some muppet in a van who knocked the barrier off Enfield Lock Crossing. Unfortunately for him, he did it in full view of the BTP, the Network Rail General Manager and Level Crossing team who were there to launch the new Level Crossing Enforcement van. From offence to having collar felt was approximately 15 seconds

I couldn't possibly comment about the road users of Brimsdown or Enfield Lock crossings- as my comments would probably loose me my job! Let's just say they're not as law abiding as they should be.
