No mention yet of LNWR ticket acceptance for any other TOCs on the National Rail website. Some other disrupted TOCs are showing ticket acceptances, some are not

Pretty poor show IMHO.

I would check with staff at Crewe or the Avanti Train Manager when the train arrives.

They don't really have a choice in the matter to be honest. If there's no further alternatives on a WMT service for the rest of the day, they can't just say "no thanks".

Indeed, if you got on the first available train I doubt they'd be making a fuss in the circumstances, but officially there was no LNR/Avanti agreement for ticket acceptance at that time.

RTT shows Liverpool/Birmingham service ran until early afternoon. Last departure from Liverpool at 14:12 - so no trains at Acton Bridge, Hartford or Winsford for rest of today - and potential difficulties for passengers as these stations are usually unstaffed in the afternoon & evening.

Ideally a small number of each operator's train would run according to crew availability. If that can't work you usually prioritise your stopper as everyone can use that. Bizarre to run express only.

I'm on my fourth train of the day. All delayed a bit, but no First Class catering on either of the two Avanti trains. This was anticipated, and emergency supplies obtained, so all good.

Edit: Passengers going into the unattended catering area and helping themselves. Not me.
At least not yet. Would it be legal?

Apart from the aforementioned signalling issues across the Breckland line, both Intercity & Regional services here in Greater Anglia have operated very well in the atrocious weather. On the other hand I’ve got soaked three times so far today :s

Something is quite poorly as Macclesfield as there is 1Z99 on the way. Looks like the 1503 ex Manchester Piccadilly cross country

I'm still not sure why Northern have removed half the Liverpool-WiganNW services; those that are still running don't seem to be affected by speed restrictions etc. so why remove half the trains?

Even Chester-Hooton doesn't appear to have flooded (yet) so the rain can't be all that bad around there, as reflected in where the Met Office warnings were located.

Also, according to National Rail Enquiries currently

Flooding between Gloucester and Severn Tunnel Junction means all lines are closed.

A tree blocking the railway between Barry and Bridgend means lines are blocked.

A tree blocking the railway between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth means all lines are blocked

Flooding has been reported on the line between Chippenham and Bath Spa. As a result, the line is closed.

Some lines are blocked between Manchester Piccadilly and Bredbury due to a tree on the line.

Plus lots of cancellations and revisions in the NW due to the 50mph restriction.

In South Manchester, raining since 0500 and 0.5in falling since then on top of what has already fallen this week. Easterly winds blowing, gusting to 30-40mph since about 1000. Thoroughly unpleasant.

Tree down on the East Suffolk line between Beccles/Oulton Broad South but quickly removed by Network Rail only causing one full and one part cancellation.

It appears to be the case that, given the number of units and crews that route normally has, they are choosing to operate a full Birmingham-Crewe service and nothing to Liverpool rather than a less frequent service from Birmingham to Liverpool due to the speed restrictions. They have done this before. I can't say I'm impressed as it leaves stations unserved unnecessarily - the line is not closed.

Last time they did it I wondered if Avanti were running via Earlestown (which would render the WMT service unnecessary), but they weren't, and so far as I can see they aren't this time either.

Looks like both London to Bristol routes via Swindon (Bath and Hullavington) are blocked due to flooding. Doesn't look like anything is diverted via the via B&H yet.

Some places just west of Swindon have had 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, 2 inches of that in the last 6 hours

Looks like there is an issue on the WCML between Stafford and Crewe as I’ve just seen up and down Glasgow services rolling through Stone.

Large shed reported on the line near Madeley. (WCML, south of Crewe)
