Travel from Paris to Milan

Hi all, not sure I'm posting in the right place, but was wondering if any of you have any experience of using Free staff travel between France and Italy. I am trying to work out a route from Paris to either Milan or Turin, using my free international coupons but am having a bit of a headache. I know i can't use the free coupons on the Artesia trains and I can't get a reservation for the date I wanted using my FIP card, so is there any other way I can travel?

Sorry I'm not a railwayman so don't know about FIP.

However, a somewhat disjointed way to do it would be to travel from Lyon or Chambéry to Modane on an 'ordinary' train. Unfortunately Italian railways no longer runs local services through the Mont Cenis tunnel so the Modane - Bardonecchia section would be by bus. Once at Bardonecchia you can get regional trains onwards in Italy.
