Afternoon all. I have recently passed the assessment centre for trainee train driver at southern. I got an email to say I will get a date for the depot manager interview soon. Is this the norm as I haven’t done the SJE or MMI interview which I thought was inbetween the assessment centre and DMI?

Hey,
I completed the recruitment process and with the medical coming up, I feel quite confident to pass it. I just had my blood pressure checked.
I am wondering on how they might question the mental health part?
I will be truthful about everything. I am just wanting to avoid when waiting for the medical worrying about it.
I don't have an anxiety disorder but I have had anxiety attacks only one about 6 years ago and maybe the other one was 10 years ago and I think a disorder is only if it is regular.
They were only because I was in pain after a minor surgery and the other one was one night when I had a really bad flu so I believe this is normal.
I did also do a self referral with CBT with NHS about 3 years ago for handling some stress and she said I didn't need to carry on going that my anxiety levels were normal.
Since then I have dealt with rather stressful situations in a calm way.
Just wondering if they ask if you have had any mental health problems previously if it's going to let me down and what I should be prepared for with the medical?

I’m not sure about southern but I passed with southeastern in September and I’m currently waiting for my MMI, then DMI. I think I do the SJE the same day as the MMI just before it.
If you don't have a medically diagnosed issue then I wouldn't disclose it, especially if it was many years and you feel it is under control now.
If they ask you "have you ever...?", then be truthful, but also be clear it has not impacted your day-to-day affairs.

Hi, I have been invited for an assessment for the role of conductor for Southeastern rail. They have sent out test examples for the Bourdon test but they’re letters not dots. Having looked online it appears every train company uses the dots, is this still the case for Southeastern specifically for the role of conductor. Thanks

Yes, from my personal experience the assessment you sit will have dots. There is a computer program available here on the forum that can be used to generate proper practice sheets with them:

All I can do is try and keep trying after. Just don't want to muck up any opc before what depot i really want comes up the beginning of next year
Although knowing how long the process takes i won't be at that part by then haha

I did back in September, waiting for my MMI now. I was sure I failed the first assessment and thought this after every assessment as the day went until there was only 2 of us left out of 10 and we both passed. Just stay calm, concentrate and do your best. If you mess up, forget about it in keep going.
I got it first time, I only used the practice material OPC sent me. When you do get to the testing phase just make sure you understand what that particular test is asking for, you will read on here of so many people jump ahead skip the test description and make a mess of it. If at any stage you are unsure of something before the test has begun you can ask questions of the staff and they will clarify. Also speed and accuracy are key elements not necessarily in that order!

Hi all, it’s been over a week now since I received an email saying I’ve passed my stage 2 OPC assessment and will be progressing to the next stages of Arrivas recruitment. Is it a common thing to wait a while before hearing anything else ?

I think it varies. In my experience, Arriva phoned me about two days after my stage 2 offering me a DMI interview. Others have waited longer.

I have just had an email stating I have passed all online stages for a signaller position at national rail. However I am slightly confused as to whether or not I have 100% been invited to an assessment day? In the email it says I have passed but will be reaching out to let me know if I have been invited to an assessment day. And on the online portal it says "next steps" assessment day. I am just confused because I assumed if I passed everything online I would automatically go through to next stage . Does anybody know how they decide who gets invited, i mean does someone go back and watch videos from your online bits or are points calculated ect? Its just if I am likely to get invited I want to start preparing now.

Oh okay thank you. I do remember one of Arrivas email saying they’ll contact us if we have passed all assessments and are invited to interview, but I’m hoping they just have a lot to get through. I’ll hold out a little longer and see if I can contact somebody from the recruitment team, if that’s even a thing lol.
These things can take such a long time I've seen people waiting stupid times for any contact. I would just use the time to sharpen up on what you need

Haha I figured so, I guess it’s just a waiting game. I think the next stage is the DMI, so I’ll use the meantime to focus and sharpen up on that. Cheers
It is super frustrating all the waiting about. Although best thing to do is forget about it until they contact you but easier said than done
