Priv cards this year have a bar code on them, i admit that I didn't even bother finding out why. Is that the RDG starting the process of digitalisation?

In the future Staff travel cards will bear a photograph of the authorised user.

I am informed the change is at an advanced state of integration with the Passport Office.

With permission, RST may download from the Passport Office, the same digital image file used to populate the Passport of the authorised user.

Tihs is voluntary for retired staff who do not have to carry a photocard/ID, but the option of having your photo on the box card if you want, is being introduced at next issue.

It seems unlikely that RST will have authority to access passport office photographs. Do you have a source for this?

Rail Staff Leisure Cards (Priv cards for non-Safeguarded staff) already incorporate a photo of the holder.

This uses photos uploaded to the RST website, which are supposed to be of passport standard. Having just checked, the upload form has a Staff Travel Card option.
