Kind of surprised they walk people to evacuate in those circumstances rather than bringing a DMU alongside or behind. It must be quite awkward walking on the ballast if you aren't wearing suitable shoes or are infirm.

How ? Both lines are blocked ? And ground unstable

Might be easier than trying to walk through the surrounding moorland, I imagine that'll be pretty slushy at the moment. Plus it gets them towards some access closer to the hotel they are presumably heading for.

There are 4 access points closeby and I would think they were heading to one of these. Screenshots attached.

Landslip behind the train and the front of the train fouling the Down line. How does one run another train alongside?

True. If the hotel is very nearby it might be the best option. Just looked like rather a long walk!
