I'm planning a day trip from Guildford to visit both Pluckley and Rye (unsure which order yet).

Is anybody able to help me find the best ticket (or combination of tickets) which would allow the following:

- Guildford to Pluckley via Redhill and Tonbridge
- Pluckley to Rye via Ashford International
- Rye to Guildford via Eastbourne and Redhill

I have tried looking at a return from Guildford to Ashford International but am unclear as to whether that would be valid on the above routes.

Many thanks for any advice.

A ticket from Guildford to Ashford International wouldn't be valid via Rye.

A ticket from Guildford to Rye would be valid via Redhill, Pluckley and Ashford International and could then be used to return via Eastbourne and Redhill.

If you can manage to buy your ticket to/from another station such that it's priced by GTR rather than SE you'll find it is probably much cheaper, since GTR have some incredibly low fares for longer journeys involving the East Coastway and Redhill-Tonbridge lines.

But seeing as you have Priv facilities from what I understand, you are talking about £13 roughly vs perhaps £8 or £10, so probably not worth spending too much time looking into.

There isn't a single through ticket valid for this, but depending on when you want to leave, splitting somewhere around Dorking for a return to Ham Street seems like the best bet.

Thanks both @Watershed and @Dirty_Mac for the advice. :)

Yes, that's correct, however I will be bringing along someone who doesn't have Priv facilities so the cost on their end would be slightly more significant.

That's a very good shout - Dorking Stations to Rye route Edenbridge/Polegate, which is what the OP intends, is as cheap as it gets, and all trains stop all Deepdene making a split there simple.

Using the above advice, I have just booked the tickets as a combination of Guildford to Dorking return and Dorking to Rye return via Edenbridge/Polegate. Saves a fair bit of money doing it this way!

Thanks once again all for the help provided.
