By the fact the train has stopped at Huntington where it isn't scheduled to call, I would hazard a guess the initial incident occurred between Peterborough and Huntingdon.
And likely a decent time before considering the train had to be specifically routed by the signaller into the platform as opposed to speeding through.

The right thing to do so the area is now completely isolated for the emergency services to undertake their investigations and work.
This. It might (will) be an inconvenience to some, but the Emergency Services will require a cordoned area to both Triage Casualties and to conduct investigations. No doubt, if there is any, any rolling stock involved will be later moved for further investigative work to be carried out but that’s for my friends in BTP to deal with.

For now, let’s just both give the emergency services the space that they need and think of the casualties and witnesses involved. I hope those who are injured make a safe and speedy recovery.

You know this is bad not only by the substance of the incident, but by the fact over 500 people are reading the thread on it (viewing figures of this level seem to only occur during major incidents like crashes/derailments).

An awful incident. Thoughts with all involved.

LNER are saying people unable to make it home can book a hotel or taxi and claim it back from them.

If you're unable to make it home this evening due to our 'Do Not Travel' advice please either book yourself a hotel and claim back the cost of your stay to customers@lner.co.uk. Please include a copy of your train tickets and your hotel receipt. Alternatively you can claim back the cost of a taxi to complete your journey.

They are going off the information they have been given or seen tweeted.

Eg BTP are saying the incident involves a train to Huntingdon.

Between them, frankly they should be able to do a bit better. If they don’t know, they shouldn’t put the information out. This sort of thing can be very distressing to people.

looking like on the train itself if report are to go by

making 800111 the crime scene itself and not to be moved until investigations are done
Why is the line shut if that is the case? One platform is blocked.

My thoughts are with all passengers and staff involved in this incident.

As a member of rail staff who travels to work on the train for virtually every shift, this has really hit hard.

prob need to make sure nothing is contaminated prior to investigation, be that external to the train or on it, could be evidence dropped on the platforms or similar
we dont have the facts at the moment as the public to know what should and should not be done, leave it to the BTP/MI5/other relevant services to make the calls

Because the station will probably be rammed with people, be that emergency services or people in shock. And when someone is in shock they can become unpredictable.

Because it cannot be presumed that the lines are free of people until the entire scene is contained and the lines checked.
Why would there be? Did anything take place on the track? Like, did someone run onto them while escaping? I'm confused as to why all lines are blocked for an incident reported to have taken plave entirely within the confines of train carriages.

Ticket Acceptance is now in place with West Midlands Trains and I don't think I've seen that really happen before.

The ticket acceptance for this evening is also valid for tomorrow understandably.

Did people run onto tracks to escape, were windows smashed on train and things thrown into line?

You don't know. We don't know.

The staff on the ground and the emergency services know what they are doing!

Tweet from the mayor of Peterborough & Cambridgeshire Paul Bristow:
Hearing reports of horrendous scenes on a train in #Huntingdon #Cambridgeshire
Cambridgeshire Police are at the scene and two people have been arrested. Thoughts and prayers with everyone affected.

Doesn't answer the question, does it?
Well it does. 600+ people on a train where mass stabbing are taking place.

There is also a security alert around the incident train now.

Hence like blocked!

Like I say; people on ground know what they are doing.

They are all in competition for clicks. They need to be first with the story, the truth is secondary.

The BBC is/was saying it was a train to Cambridge, for example.

Emergency call = all lines blocked. It’s standard practice whether or not a human incident has taken place.

That's exactly the question I'm asking, because the incident is reported to have taken place on the train and I am using an internet forum to find out the answer.

An informed person has posted the answer now in a normal and not annoyed way, which I think is great.
