He was indeed.
First joined Maryport police in 1835 then joined Carlisle police in 1837. He is buried in Carlisle Crematorium Cemetery in an unmarked grave. There is currently a campaign to have a gravestone installed and for a blue plaque.
His father was brought to Whitehaven as a slave and freed.

Berlage was a Dutch architect, so I imagine the others were too, and their work is in Amsterdam
That'll do, they are all Amsterdam School architects, and their work is indeed concentrated in the west and south of Amsterdam.
Their collective works are the most beautiful expressionist brick residential buildings you'll see anywhere....
Here's one of Piet Kramer's creations......and the one below is a stunning block by Margaret Kropholler.
It's worth visiting Amsterdam just to look at these wonderful buildings.....
