Additional washer jets being added to wiper arms, HMI-DMI screen dimming capability needs adjusting as Drivers have complained about them being too bright, Gangway door locking mechanism being modified across the fleets, there are a few mod programmes going on at the moment, as well as software update rollouts pretty frequently too.

Seems word is getting round about how nicer the 'first class' area is as I'm on the 15;56 to Birmingham in the posher seats at the very front and it's busier than expected considering the usual passenger behaviour of boarding the first set of doors.

Considering when I alighted at Leighton Buzzard the rest of the front coach and coach 2 were near enough empty.

730228 came off Soho this Morning on 5F46 to work the 1F46 0734 Birmingham New Street (BHM) to Liverpool Lime Street (LIV) having shaken off it's Driver Training only Restrictions.

Very bad Graffiti attacked on one side at one end. Looked Terrible.

730225+730229 Allocated to work 1W18 this Morning failed before Working the 5W18 ECS with Traction Equipment Problems.
Clarification:- 5W18 0656 Bletchley C.S.(XBL) to Rugby (RUG), 1W18 0805 Rugby (RUG) to London Euston (EUS). Cancelled Today 27-10-25.

With 2 Trains per Hour on the Birmingham to Liverpool Services the 5-Car 730's are not needed for the Majority of the day. There are busier Off Peak Services for them to be Working.

Didn't catch which ones as they were just leaving Lichfield when I arrived for my train this morning (RTT says 210/233) but 10-car in service on the 1st Down Northampton-Crewe this morning which is the 0713 back to Euston

After 1st February 2026, under new management & with a change of some of the people at the very top, this might change.

IIRC and may have been through this thread, the intention a few months back was to temporarily introduce on BHM-LIV but remove to provide CRE-EUS from December T/T start, I'm assuming this was in planning to train Crewe based traincrews (?). Seeing the first of the fleet on the Trent Valley as from yesterday (6wks early) anything could be happening as of now !

Capacity is the issue. But will it be 8 car 350s with the 730s having enlarged the fleet?

730212 1F55 the 12:23 off Wolverhampton today. Also seen at Crewe when I got off.

Having now travelled on this class of train I can say I enjoyed the experience and these trains can get up to some good speed. A much improved offering compared to the current 350s.

Not the first time I've been on a 730/2 however, because I've cleaned a few at work already.

Good to get one ticked off today.

me too, they quite impressed me, being a resident on the west coast, was pleased to see them on the Trent now，now on 730209+730221 towards crewe

I noticed today that whilst on my 730 to Crewe we stopped at Penkridge. Normally on a 350 they would announce to move up the train to get off because the train doesn't fit the platform. On the 730 today there was no announcement due to platform length.

Have they extended Penkridge station to suit the 730s or not? Why was there no announcement?
