I have an Avanti WC Standard Premium complimentary Club ticket I intend to use shortly, I want to make the most of it so it will probably be Euston to Glasgow Central.
Is it possible to buy an on train upgrade to First Class, if so what will the ball park figure cost of the fare be with a Senior Railcard?
If not it will be a visit to M&S for a bag of supplies as the walk back and forward to the on board shop is just too far for me ay my age from Standard Premium.

TIA

I upgraded a Standard Premium Club Avanti reward fare to first class and it was pretty straightforward. I did it on board. That said, it was what, 2 years ago? It may have changed since.

Thank you very much styles, any idea how the excess worked out? I just put in a fare request for 7 weeks time and the difference between the two was £53.
Even I couldn't eat or drink that much in four and a half hours. :)

In my case it was £40something, though I don't know how it was calculated.

It was worth it for the food and drink I feel, and the first class section was almost dead while Standard Premium was quite busy and loud with kids.
