Glad to hear it's family friendly. Taking my wife and kids to see it at the Bluebell on Wednesday and was worried that they might be bored!

One of the carriages is "wonderlab on wheels" so has a fun interactive sand pit, a track with different wheel shapes and some other interactive learning games.
The carriages are basically: history, present/employment, wonderlab, local partners
(And a generator vehicle running on hvo)

I assume 35028 was not in steam?
It was in steam and not even coupled to the main inspiration set today. Someone even set off the whistle in it at full blast in Waterloo, Almost deafened me even 2 platforms away

Due to arrive at East Grinstead tonight from Margate as 1850 3Z32 for the Bluebell Railway, to be serviced at Horsted Keynes tomorrow then open to the public from 23rd to 29th
In connection with this event, the railway is running a special service on exhibition days to get people to Horsted Keynes, which is the centre of our Rail 200 Exhibition and will house other exhibits as well as the Inspiration Train. Details are available on the Timetables Page - read this carefully as the timings do vary from day to day, with the weekend in particular having no shuttle services.
66710 is also due to be double heading with 33108 on Saturday and Sunday.

It put a bee in my dogs bonnet as well, poor thing was just settling into position when the driver let the horn rip on the viaduct, it nearly scared the ...... well actually that's what she was intent on doing .......

We had 66710 running on the 26th and 27th of July and it sounds like every other 66 I’ve ever heard. Not sure about 66719 but I would imagine the same.

How can he cconfuse the class 66 horn for a US steam loco's chime hooter whistle*,I have no idea!* I fondly remember hearing them on D&RGW steam locos on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.

I understood (rightly or wrongly?) that one had to pre-book visits, so didn't bother when it came to London. At the Greatest Gathering it was only necessary to queue for a few minutes so I did. I was somewhat underwhelmed. Plenty for the kiddywinks, not much for an adult who is reasonably well informed about the railways.

The Telegraph would be better doing some digging on how much this has cost. With acquisition of the coaches, hire of the generator van, fully overhauled bogies, bodywork repaint and vinyl (so essentially a C3 overhaul), internal fit-out, plus the inevitable design and project management costs, there is not going to be much, if any, change out of £3 million.The Telegraph has got a bee in its bonnet about the loco's horn:

With this going on to the Southern during its tour, I do hope NR have used SSL bogies on it…

Isn't the exhibition train in question already at Norwich just now? Before heading over to Lowestoft next week? So, maybe 14th or 15th August, when it's due to be heading on from Lowestoft to its next location thereafter (Doncaster). P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Think @jamesfb was specifically asking when the Inspiration train will come through Cambridgeshire? And, if so, which line? Has to be either 14th, 15th or maybe 16th August if it's being moved from Lowestoft station across to Freightliner Doncaster Freeport.

Seen with some rather more heritage and sedate traction than the usual 66s outside the NRM this afternoon.
I visited the Inspiration Train at Aberdeen on Monday, where I got told off by one of the red-uniformed staff for the crime of pausing to take a photo of 66742 as I walked past it towards the door onto the train at the far end. When I got to the far end I asked the person there if I could walk further on for a few yards to photo 66719. Having been cheerfully told to go ahead I did so, at which point the original bad-tempered woman came storming up the platform and berated me again, and remonstrated with her colleague as well. Uh?
The best bit on the inside was the sand tray with a railway map and moving trains projected onto it from above. I could have played with that a while longer. There is a virtual tour here:

I think that's also at the National Railway Museum in York as part of Wonderlab, I was very tempted to go and do that but when I was there but I spent too long on the viewing platform....
