On 1st November I hope to travel to Merthyr Tydfil to see the football. What sort of train will I get from Cardiff?

From a quick check on RTT, it looks like most of the workings are being provided by class 756 units.

I went to Merthyr today and the trains were indeed the excellent Class 756. Not sure what the locals will think when they are eventually, as planned, replaced by the tram-trains;
No doubt they will consider them not as good, but I suspect quite a few will think that one of them every 15 minutes to Cardiff is at least better than a bus every hour.

Was that the alternative then? Tram trains or no train?
No.

The fact is the bus service between Merthyr and Cardiff was pre-covid every 15 minutes, it then went to every 30 minutes and has now reduced to one an hour.

I was making the point that people might think that whatever the type of train a 15-minute service is better than an hourly bus service.
