Not wanting to make a big thing of this -- but my understanding has been that Muirton Halt is just south of the junction of the Caledonian Railway's main line; and its Almond Valley line splitting off westward; thus is, properly, the next after P.P. St. (with reversal at open Perth General)?

I have come into this discussion later than others, but the three rail historians that I have telephoned this afternoon have all been of the opinion that station is recognised as being part of the Scottish Midland Junction Railway which is a line that we not visit on this current journey.

I note that Muirton Halt is shown by Wikipedia on their RDT of the Scottish Midland Junction Railway after the line connection to the Perth, Almond Valley and Methven Railway.

Pittenzie Halt

With reference to Muirton Halt. Its dates were 1936 to 1959. It served St Johnstone's football ground and was only used on match days. However it was located on the Caledonian Main Line well south of the divergence of the Crieff and Methven Junction route so we would have passed through it on this journey. Since it was opened by the LMS and didn't exist in the days of the SMJR, it doesn't seem particularly relevant that it was on the line originally built by that railway.
