This is the short bay platform used mainly for Sunday shuttles to Uckfield.
Just wondering if anyone knew if it is ever used by electric trains?

Given that all East Grinstead services run to/from London, I can't imagine there's any reason whatsoever for electric trains to use P3.

That and its only sized for 2 cars, so really only fits the 2EPB (Class 416) as electric and pretty sure it was only Thumpers that worked the route from Uckfield until the Turbostars

In an old archive video the Class 205 and 207 did use Platform 3 this was during Connex and South Central Trains era.

It is still used on Sundays, the Uckfield service a shuttle from Oxted. The track layout means trains have to shunt from the up platform upon arrival, into the bay for the down departure to Uckfield.

P3 takes 3 cars - just. The "thumpers" on the Oxted lines were all 3 cars until the very end when some were reduced to 2. Most of the Turbos are now 3 cars too, with a few 2 and 4 remaining. Don't remember ever seeing an electric unit in there.

That doesn't, as it's an SR-type 2EPB (416/1). The 416/2s did look like 205s though.

If the line towards London is closed, could an electric shuttle run between Oxted and East Grinstead, using the bay?

In practice they operate any East Grinstead shuttle from platform 1, with Uckfield shuttles possibly using platform 3 if they are running.

I've never seen an electric train in platform 3.

4 cars can fit behind the signal, with the last car hanging off the platform. Not seen now there are no longer 4 car turbostars, as any 2+2 171 formation needs two drivers to shunt it due to no walking route on the viaduct.
