It was visited by some locals youths upset they got penalty fared from Romsey in a revenue sting.

I'm not sure if the machine at Lapworth still exists as it looked like that station had a TVM when I alighted from a train last month
Lapworth absolutely now has a TVM vice PERTIS....

The tickets haven't been inserted wrongly, the error occurred when they were manufactured.
It seems that an old PERTIS ticket was used as a template for the new tickets. These had 'Permit to Travel' at the bottom whereas tickets for the new machines have this at the top. Also the conditions are pre-printed as well as being printed by the machine at right angles.
These tickets are likely to be seen from all machines for some time unless the stock is replaced.

Thanks

I’m convinced that there are still some standing but not usable such as Foxton for example. If anyone know of any other old ones not in use but still in situ I’d be interested to know.

I'm there on 23rd October if nobody reports earlier.
Thank you

There's a remaining pedestal at Hampstead (Birmingham)
It's screaming for a YouTube short/tiktok style video to this Eurovision song from last year

It's probably likely that GA network out towards Harwich has some remaining pedestals too as quite a few of the stations I went to around 2017/2018 had the machines long removed but pedestals remaining.

That’s interesting to know. So much infrastructure in any for still survives!

The brief for the new National Rail Conditions of Travel coming into force at the end of November instructs operators to cover up PERTIS machines and switch them off pending removal so if anyone does want to get to the remaining machines I would suggest doing so sooner rather than later.

Is there a list of current working machine?
These are the only five working ones left:

Beaulieu Road
Holton Heath
Longcross
Millbrook
Redbridge

Note that these are all the newer Metric Aura model. There are no working older Metric Autoslot ones left. Also these five should be in working order but you can never guarantee it as sometimes they run out of paper or the coin box is full and then it goes out of service. It sounds like these five will probably be put out of service soon so i would go as soon as possible if you want some final tickets.

Millbrook has been out of action for a couple of months if not longer, wrapped up in plastic after it got attacked by some feral youngsters upset they got penalty fared.

Would anyone be able to advise me if all 4 of the SWR permit matches are currently working?

Although it might not be the best day to go exploring on the SWR network as it looks like they have other issues this morning.

So
Redbridge, Holton Heath and Beauleigh Road worked on the 8th of November

If you clicked the spoiler feel free to watch the video anyway - you have all been a great source of information for accidental PERTIS series

Does anyone have any new updates on if any of the old permit machines have been removed?

Just seen on google street view, would anyone know of this scene is up to date? As it looks like a permit machine in-situ?

I said I'd be passing the area in a couple of weeks, the ended up being months, it has been replaced by a modern ticket machine - seems the building next to it has been pulled down as well.

Next video goes live on 4pm on the 21st... so tomorrow as well, I hope you enjoy it :)

For anyone planning to nip out this weekend, I can confirm that:
  • The machine at Millbrook is currently out of service (wrapped in black tape)
  • The machines at Redbridge and Beaulieu Road are in service, but dispense messed up tickets as per posts #332 and #333
  • The machine at Holton Heath is in service and dispenses correctly formatted tickets.
I never made it to Longcross.

Thanks for an update. I believe the only machine that looks to dispense the permits that are readable is Holton Heath.

Wonder how much realistically they’ll all be usable?

Just following on from this - Longcross is in service, but again is dispensing unreadable permits.
