He spoke tough on getting rid of immigrants. Now we have Reform gaining strength with the same rhetoric, to the point where the Tories are trying to convince people they're even harder on foreigners.. and to a degree Labour feels the need to try and seem hard too.

Isn't it funny how people will accept things becoming worse for themselves as long as they can see others suffering more. And all the time nobody is looking up at the oligarchs getting richer and taking even more control (e.g. Elon with X and now Larry Ellison with TikTok and numerous other media companies).

So it doesn't surprise me at all that people who would once have voted Labour for their own welfare are now being convinced Starmer is a Nazi and Reform will save the world and protect the white race and blood line.

Unfortunately this is human psychology, and when things get that bad, usually the only way to break it is for a catastrophe so bad to happen, where the damage and devastation is widespread enough that everyone suffers extremely, and makes those left realise "we can't go on like this". Hence why the biggest societal upheavals have followed major economic crashes and/or wars.

How long do we think it will be before he TACOs on the 100% Chinese tariffs that he announced on Friday?

I sometimes wonder if Trump has never left the 80s - his world is still USA vs. Russia and he doesn’t grasp how many of the cards China holds today. I can see a trade war with China ending very poorly for the US.

Well, the way things are going in the U.S., it's very likely that they are already in a recession and that it will get worse.

I don't have (or want) a Truth Social account so can't provide a link, but DJT posted this:
THE BIDEN FBI PLACED 274 AGENTS INTO THE CROWD ON JANUARY 6. If this is so, which it is, a lot of very good people will be owed big apologies. What a SCAM - DO SOMTHING!!! President DJT

Before getting into the weeds about if the President can or cannot directly control FBI operations, it's instructive to point out that on January 6 the President was one Donald J Trump.

His mind is so addled that he's accusing Biden of presidential misconduct while he himself was the President!

I've said it before, I think Trump has dementia. One of the symptoms of dementia is for them to experience delusions, to have strongly held false beliefs, which may also take the form of paranoia. "They’re out to get me" kind of thing.

From The Independent, Kash Patel, Trump’s own current FBI director has refused to back up the conspiratorial claim.
The Independent said:
Patel was forced to clarify the agency’s position on its deployment of agents on January 6 in late September, the first time Trump used his Truth Social platform to amplify this conspiracy by writing that FBI agents were “probably acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists” in the crowd. The FBI director responded in an interview, saying that the deployment occurred after the riot began.

Patel told Fox News Digital: "Agents were sent into a crowd control mission after the riot was declared by Metro Police"

reports suggested that an anonymous trader may have made up to $200 million (£150 million) by betting against the two largest digital currencies……………….. roughly 30 minutes before Trump revealed his tariff plans

I suggest he sees the world as US vs China, has mostly been somewhere between ambivalent and favourable to Russia, but I agree he doesn't understand China's power to hurt the USA.

I suspect he can't do anything against Russia besides saying the odd threat he won't follow through on, especially as we've now found that Melania has been the 'back channel' with Putin for some time.

He's clearly compromised and just continues to talk tough but do nothing. Putin is yet another of a long list of people who play him and give laughable compliments to make him feel like he's in control.

Melania said the private chats were simply to ask him to think of the children, but the oddly timed statement may have been made to get ahead of it being found out by someone else and looking suspicious.

At the end of the day, Trump, will be but a foot note in history, Cults of personalities tend to die, when the personality dies, and I think that will be what happens, oh and if the next president is a Democrat, you can be sure they won't be as forgiving as Biden's term, not when Trump tried to make enemies of anyone who stood up to him, I think that there will be a lot of former heads of trumps governmental departments, serving prison sentences, or facing the court in the Hugue, where their actions, lead to human rights abuses.

Even if the Democrats win, they will be unlikely to help with getting or allowing any U.S. citizens be prosecuted at the Hugue. They wouldn't want to set any kind of precedent.

Id think it be sensible to try and put a full stop on the tit for tat prosecutions if a sensible president gets elected next time round. Really try and remove fuel to the division.

The current crop of political retaliations is happening in no small part because the authorities failed to handle the January 6 insurrectionists. As a general rule, trying (and failing) to violently overthrow the government and hang the vice president isn’t rewarded with another crack at the presidency. Usually, the ringleaders of actions like this are lucky to be imprisoned.

How come so many were put in prison then pardoned, if it was in fact all the FBI (according to the recent dementia fuelled Truth). How come none of them were arrested and jailed?

It's definitely ideal to stop unjustified, politically-motivated prosecutions with little chance of securing a prosecution, but where crimes have been committed and the evidence is strong, then it's only right that the guilty face justice.

It’s almost like it’s all waffle and lies. God knows how his supporters take him seriously.

One more from the stock of dead cats festering away in the closet. Is this still to distract from Epstein or are there other things going on he doesn't want getting into the headlines?

I suspect that some of it is ideas pulled out of the dim recesses of his mind or come from his family, particularly Don Junior, but I reckon that his handlers feed him a lot of weirdness, wind him up and let him become the centre of press attention while they quietly get on with destroying the nation to their advantage. I get a certain amount of US news on my newsfeed and there are an awful lot of weird things that he says, or sometimes does, which get coverage: the latest seems to be a suggestion that he thinks Watergate was a hoax, but another one will be along tomorrow, or even later today. All these are sufficiently attention grabbing that people concentrate on them and miss the darker things going on behind.

Trump is scared that the truth will become unstoppable, first Epstein, and then, on the back of that, other stuff might come out, as others implicate him, and if someone were to dig a bit deeper into the last election, and he were found to have not won fairly, he losses the protection of being president, he will deflect, throw as many people under the bus, as it takes to save his own skin, thats why I do actually think he will die first, than leave, and of course, his death, would give others an excuse, to shift the blame, dead men don't sue,

The Epstein scandal is going to rip through politics on all sides in the US and well beyond. Trump as you say is simply trying to stall and deflect proceedings on the files being realised, knowing full well by know that not only he but many around him have a lot to lose. So I'm sure he's just hoping he can sit on it until at least the next election, at which point if he's still capable of he can try to pretend that he wanted to realise them but the "Deep State" stopped him. However he's not accounted for senior MAGAs like Marjorie Taylor Greene digging their heels in and refusing to tow the party line on supressing the files. By all accounts many Republicans in Congress are now leaning towards full disclosure, and why the Republican Speaker of the House is stalling on reconvening Congress, as a vote is likely to be one of the first matters to the docket.

US politics is about to crumble into a chaotic mess, even more than it already is. And it won't just stop Stateside, the repercussions will be seen around the world in politics, entertainment, sport, et etc.

Oh, no doubt about that at all. There will be prominent people implicated from both sides of the political divide.

That said, it's likely to impact the Republican side more than the Democrats, if only because they have the current sitting president, and it's unlikely that any of the recent leading figures in the Democratic party are going to be included: I can't see Biden, Harris, Schumer or Pelosi showing up on the flight logs. Their donors however...

I bet there will be others around him that will be implicated in the Epstein scandal who will throw Trump under the bus the moment people start coming for them, in the belief that such a high profile person getting done will take the heat off them.
Trump is screwed but I don't think he knows it. It's the usual story of surrounding yourself with yes men who will make out everything is alright when the house is on fire.

Of course a lot of the MAGA faithful will never believe he could do anything wrong, the really sad thing is that some of them will be parents who you'd have thought would want to protect their children from pedophiles.

I would think it difficult not to be on the Epstein list if you're a big mover or shaker in Politics, Entertainment, Sport and Business. He seems to be the sort of person who knows everybody...

There's going to be an awful lot of bodily waste coming into contact with a very large air conditioning unit very soon.

On the contrary, I'd say it would be incredibly easy - just don't ***** children or trafficked women!

Perhaps not. Just being associated with Epstein could ruin someone's reputation, particularly if it was after he'd been convicted. As far as I know there is no serious suggestion that Mandelson did anything like that, just expressed support for Epstein and suggested his punishment was too severe.

That wouldn't get you on his list though. And anyone who associated with him after he was convicted displayed a complete lack of common sense.

Actually, Trump dying in office, would be a very convenient smokescreen for those who might be on that list, Bury the list with him, say, it's not the time, and kick that can further down the road, but for anyone with a grudge against Trump, and there will be many, many more, the overwhelming call, will be for the truth to finally come out, and there is a lot of now elderly men, and women, who have very good reason to get scared, for years, their power, and influence has protected them, and now they will be exposed, Epstein, trapped, and seduced many who he thought he could use in that seedy money and power is everything world he created .
