Seems that the train will be visiting Llandudno Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog on Tuesday 16 September, before heading the Cambrian

I have often wondered why they didn't choose this as a route, operationally quite easy and still pretty

Blaenau Ffestiniog a0135 d 0455
North Llanrwst parked from 0529 to 0751

Luxury?

So spending the night shuttling from Llanwrst to Blaenau, rather than Haverfordwest, followed by a morning in Llandudno instead of along the Heart of Wales line.

Tywyn is now used for the second night instead of Barmouth.

Might marginally win out over Barmouth. That said, if you're asleep I don't think it will matter!

Spends a lot of times in/around Wales doesn't it?

I think that's the point. The "Royal Scotsman" focusses on Scotland after all!

The Brittanic Explorer made it to the North Wales Coast stopping at Blaenau Ffestiniog overnight and it is now on its way to Pwllheli without incident

Interestingly, the current Network Rail sectional appendix shows that mark 3 carriages are not permitted on the line

Arriva Mk3's have been to Blaeanu prob about 10 years ago when they were 67 hauled. Although i'm unsure if they were ever officially signed off.

I remember that. More recently the Virgin Pretendolino was only allowed as far as North Llanrwst and LSLs Chairman's train had to leave it's mark 3 sleepers in Llandudno a couple of years ago. So hopefully this is is a positive development

Saw it at Victoria. Looked a bit like a rake of grey mk 3's to me.

Not long after passed a load of brown and cream pullmans going the other way at Penge.

It hasn't left Victoria yet so perhaps it isn't running.

RTT now shows it as cancelled due to problem with the train.

There wasn't a schedule off Stewart's Lane either, who knows?

Looks like it got as far as Fenny Stratford tonight.
Now 5Z99 to Wellingborough.

According to RTT yet more problems with the doors.

Wonder where they put up the guests last night? Is there a Travelodge at or near Fenny Stratford?

ECS went to Eastleigh TRSMD from Wellingborough on Saturday. I think it's still there.
