Darlington to Manchester via Sheffield, possibly?

Hi

I have a Off Peak Return for tomorrow between Darlington and Manchester Stations and am wondering if via Sheffield would be a valid route?

The only reason I ask is the blockade at Huddersfield and the connection it has given me at Leeds is very tight (<10 minutes).

Yes it is. XC to Sheffield, then TPE to Manchester
