A new venue for me Friday night, my first time at The Lower Third in London. Though strictly speaking not entirely new as it’s on the same site as the old 12 Bar Club, which I frequented a few times. Anyway saw Sarah Darling, who was clearly showing off her Stevie Nicks influences with her outfit, as well as playing covers of Landslide and Gypsy. The two support acts were decent as well, Fainn and Shea Rafferty. All in all a very good evening.
Next show is next Thursday as I’ve managed to get a ticket for the Brandi Carlile Q&A and acoustic show presented by Rough Trade.

I’m not overly keen on Knebworth it’s a long time standing in a field with my ageing knees and if you get near the front and need to go to the toilet etc. what are the chances of getting near the front again? Maybe I’m just being over negative!!! If they had front standing though I’would have definitely tried to get it.

Deacon Blue last night at Motorpoint Nottingham. Excellent performance, don't know what Ricky Ross is on but he does well for a 67 year old!
Not quite up to Coldplay at Croke Park Dublin last year though, a fantastic night to remember for the rest of our lives.

Springsteen last year at Wembley was amazing (I've seen him before). Shout out to Wembley Stadium Station staff too. Easy in and out
Used to go to a lot of gigs when I was young but we don't do much these days. Saw The Eagles at the O2 (Before Glenn Frey died). They were stunning - enhanced by being upgraded to a box. Rod there twice - one really good one not so good
Most recently Lindisfarne at the Broadstairs folk festival (just pre actually
). Very enjoyable

I'm a big fan of the Moody Blues, sad to hear that John Lodge passed away today, only Justin Hayward of the five left now, saw them in Nottingham in 2015 marvellous.

Wow, love Cream, I'm envious!
I watched a documentary about Ginger Baker a few years ago, he was living on a kind of ranch in the middle of nowhere in South Africa with his wife about half his age, he came across as a very bitter, angry unpleasant man.
He was indeed an unpleasant man, and with his lifestyle it’s surprising he lived until the age of 80. His violent clashes with Jack Bruce broke up the band after only a couple of years duration.

Al Stewart was excellent in Guldford last night. Its a shame that this may well be the last time I see him live. I think that was the 10th time I've seen him live. First time was in 1991

Saw Adam Ant in Southend last week. Think that was about the 17th or 18th time I’ve seen him live. First time was in Stoke in 1995. Got no gigs definitely lined up, although planning on seeing Steve Hackett next year.

Indeed it was awful - and unfortunately that resulted in a half-empty room for Starsailor. Despite the half-empty room, and a sound engineer who clearly was far too much of a fan of bass guitar, James Walsh's awesome voice pushed through and made something of it.
The refurbished Wulfrun is proving somewhat of an odd venue - it was before the refurb too, tbh - but in contrast with the Civic it does seem to be lacking in atmosphere. Part of that seems to be that, for some reason, the audience always seems to be brightly lit. Other bands have commented on it from the stage, asking for the house lights to be turned off, when they actually are. I don't know if it's the white walls/ceiling but it's an odd vibe.

I've not been to the Wulfrun since the refurb. That was my fifth time at the Civic since the refurb and each time the atmosphere has been great.
