This one shows pathed as trailing load 800 tonnes
The cancelled one yesterday was trailing load 400 tonnes

Does that mean they are moving 2 units ?
I also noticed the higher trailing load of 800 tonnes. It also shows the planned max speed is only 27mph instead of yesterdays 75mph.

However, the timings are identical so I doubt it really will be 27mph. I live close to Surbiton, so I’ll try to see it later today if it actually runs and how many units are included .

VSTP (Very Short Term Plan) schedules can often have incorrect speeds. For a while Network Rail outputted speeds multiplied by 2.24 for some reason. 27*2.24=60mph which is the same speed shown on Rail Record.

There was a new diagram last week - the one starting with 2K03/2O11 has been 701s only since 15th September, so next week will only be the second without a new one.
I admire your optimism, but it's the the first time since May that there have been two consecutive weeks without a new diagram. The rollout should be speeding up, not grinding to a halt. There's clearly a problem.

Panic over...

Looks like the diagram that starts with 2U06 has permanently moved over to 701. I know it was temporarily 701 in the final week of the reduced timetable.

Third week in a row without a diagram! SWR should now be scrutinised for the summer timetable decision.
The summer timetable reduction was never about speeding up driver training, it was about continuing the driver training pace without short notice cancellations. The drivers required to do the training means their original duties required covering, and as the summer holidays typically have fewer rest day volunteers and more drivers taking ad-hoc leave days something had to give.

Was only a single unit - just seen passing Esher in excess of 50mph - didn’t see the number myself (but reported by XCTurboStar as 701026)

VSTP (Very Short Term Plan) schedules
Purely for info for those who may be unaware, as railway terminology is often used, generally speaking VSTP moves are usually those planned and resourced by Control, as they are too late in the day for published alterations to be made to train crew schedules which have strict deadlines in relation to alterations. They have no input from train planning who plan and publish LTP and STP workings within the aforementioned crew diagram criteria.

It’s only two units by 800 tonnes would be the 730/2, which currently still have some stored in Gascoigne wood sidings

That supposes that driver training is always the limiting factor, the reality is that the limiting factor could have changed to the rate at which additional units can be brought through the removal from storage, modifications as needed, fault free running and any fettling to get them ready processes. There had to be several pauses in the Cl.700 roll out for exactly this reason hence it wouldn’t be surprising if the same occurred with 701s. (Peak Cl. 700 new diagram increase rate is the same as the max for the Cl. 701s).

VSTP speeds can sometimes be in ms^-1 and 27 ms^-1 happens to be 60mph…

This is interesting as 701026 is not one of the long term stored units at Marchwood - it has only been there since 28.05.25 and before that it was at Long Marston, so it is probably in "better condition" than the others at Marchwood !
Indeed 701026 had only been at Marchwood for just under five months. The other eight (all 701/0s) have been at Marchwood for 16 to 18 months with 701047 being just under ten months.

All adds to my obsessive concern that SWR are reaching the "scraping" level towards the bottom of the barrel.

The other 701/0s are mostly at Long Marson (15 of them) and have all been there less time than any at Marchwood (ignoring 701045 arriving at Long Marston twelve days before before the latest arrival at Marchwood. These seemed to come from SWR land (I amnot 100% as I was not paying attention back then) - possibly after not passing muster OR possibly because there was no room/drivers for them.

the beginning stages rollout of 701 perhaps is still no space left, that's why they keep on going to storage, but not now as the 455s are going to scrap consistently each week

Considering the desiros and the 707s had very clear handsets, its not a good look.
Can be applied to basically anything on the 701 compared to the 707s.

I believe there was a 5 car on test in the Waterloo/Clapham area today. Potentially 2x5 cars coupled.
Yup, it was 701503, links below:

Does anyone have a full list of services which will make up this new 701 diagram?
The diagramm including that service today, so a good bet for being the one next week, is a Kingston rounder, but starting and finishing at Staines
2U06 - 2O07 - 2K11 - 2O19 - 2K23 - 2O31 - 2K35 - 2O43 - 2K47 - 2O55 - 2K59 - 2O67 - 2K71 - 2U81

This will make 4 out of six rounders 701s, (five at the beginning and end of the day). Prioriting the rounders for 10-car trains seems a good idea as they spend more time in the busiest part of the network, close to Waterloo (they are at Waterloo every 90 minutes, whereas many services have end to end times nearly as long as that).

Many thanks. Very helpful indeed.

After two consecutive weekends with 701s out on Reading services on both Saturday and Sunday it's back to normal today with the only 10-coach train being a pair of 458/5s.

As is 2C98 with 1056
OK, perhaps I wasn't being clear enough and should have explained I meant the standard service pattern and not any rugby extras.

For the avoidance of doubt 701s were part of the standard service pattern on both Saturday and Sunday for the past two weekends. Today they're not.

Hope this explains my point. :)

Seems just two or three runs though on the Readings. Tomorrow is buses Virginia Water to Reading so anybody's guess what we will get.

Tomorrow's Virginia Water services are mostly booked to be 458s with the occasional 450s. 2C73/2C76 should be the only 701s tomorrow.

701s should be on 2U services to Staines tomorrow.
