029 was the reason HD04 never made it from Holyhead yesterday morning, as already mentioned it's on the way to Canton for the wheel lathe. HD04's moved back to Crewe with 67010 and is expected in service with 1V31's diagram tomorrow.

On an unrelated note, HD07 stops for a B exam tonight as HD03 has just returned from its exam.

Given that Longsight and Allerton are a lot closer, why send it all the way from Holyhead to Cardiff (presumably hammering the rails all the way)?

It would have normally been done
At Crewe but it’s not currently available,
Holyhead will be operational around October.

My wife and I travelled on this train 2 days ago, from Cardiff Central (12:53) to Manchester Piccadilly.

Great service and we got tickets at a bargain price too.

Didn't try out the fancy food though, we were still full from a late breakfast. Maybe next time. I was surprised though, very few folk in our carriage actually opted for the lunch.

(*HD02 and HD04 will be swapping diagrams near the end of the day, HD02 1W63, HD04 1W96.)
EDIT - HD03 is now in use of HD04, unsure if the swap will go ahead with HD02 but will continue to assume so.

All bar a handful of the earliest and latest weekday MK4 services have dining available. There's no dining option on Sundays, and I'm never quite sure which Saturday services do or don't carry a chef.
