Thank you very much. I believe most of the new transfers are for the new depot opening in Bodmin later this month.
That’s interesting. I’d have thought some of it was, eg E400mmc’s and Solo’s. However the E200’s and E300’s largely for Matford and possibly some at Torquay.

I'm not sure what's happening with the local routes that are operated by E200s. As far as I know they're getting about 20 deckers and 2 E100s.

Torquay should be getting 34 E400EV's (numbers 80260-80293 have been quoted), plus around 12 E200EV and 3 E100EV (46048-46050).....although I have seen mention elsewhere that the E200EV's may have been changed to something else. Plus Barnstaple is also getting some E400EV's, 80246-80259, presumably for the 21, and a few E100EV's (46041-46047)

Thank you. Exeter's order of 66101-120 have been pushed back to 2026 due to a lack of infrastructure

As far as Torquay is concerned I imagine the E400s will be for the 11, 12 & 22 while the 12x E200 could be Services 31, 35A & 35C (for which I think the PVR is not 12 so I wonder what other routes they might end up on). As for the E100s the only route I could think of where those might end up could be the 60 & 61 around Paignton: does anyone know otherwise?

I imagine the E100s for Barnstaple would be for the town routes.

17/18 a possible option. Only uses the one bus for both. As you say 60 easily the other route for the second bus.

I didn't think of the 17/18 but they operate in the Brixham area (I think) so that presumably would mean the need for a charging point at Paignton?

Also, thinking of the 60/61 I wonder why someone doesn't expand those routes to give a link between Paignton and Torquay via. Marldon, Preston Down, Old Paignton Road, Broadley Drive and Livermead: good excuse for an hourly (at least) all-day service on a route like that IMO.

A staff member explained it to me at Matford Park. The site where they had started digging up from a charging station turned out to be on unsuitable land, marshland. I think the car park itself is now slightly extended at that end, but there is no longer any sign of the electrification work there. If they can't do it there, I wonder if there even is an alternative site for Exeter?

Perhaps in place of the electrics, Exeter has just received a large batch of second-hand diesels, including some Enviro300s from the now fully electrified north-east depot in Stockton. That depot was electrified after I left Middlesbrough for Exeter!

I wonder what will be happening to Exeter's allocated batch of electrics? Are they already built? And can they wait forever?

Considering 66100 has already been delivered to London I would guess they have been built.

Will Stagecoach ever get electric buses in Plymouth or this not possible?

I saw a Stagecoach Solo travelling along the A30 from St. Erth roundabout earlier. Couldn’t identify it though as I was driving on the Hayle road heading towards St. Erth roundabout and saw it on the bridge.

Not long before operations start from Bodmin Depot so a driver training run would be my guess.

Seen on Facebook, with pictorial evidence, is that 3x ADL E400 EV were noted on the A38 today on delivery but presumably being stored somewhere until electrification of their destination is complete. They are understood to have been 80246, 80249 & 80254 (YX75 KXL, YX75 KXO & YX75 KXU). The electrification works at Barnstaple have apparently not started while those at Torquay are delayed by at least a month so where these will end up is uncertain.

Do we yet know where in Bodmin the new Stagecoach SW depot will be?
Seems to be Priory Road, opposite Morrisons

Apparently a site that Western National used to use back in the day

Loads of the new college contracts tracked this morning on BusTimes (although not all of them) and many buses are tracking in said depot now

Looks like a very large sudden launch across the SW - interesting looking at the tracking for some / taking different routes. Some did run really late this morning (172) so will be interesting to see if that’s a recurring problem

36095 and 47553 have transferred from Stagecoach West's Cheltenham depot to Stagecoach South West (Barnstaple Depot I believe).

Devon Live has an article today about the electric buses for Exeter, Torquay and Barnstaple.

The salient points are: Stagecoach has partnered with VEV to electrify the depots at Exeter, Torquay and Barnstaple. There will be 27 chargers at Torquay, with Exeter and Barnstaple adding another 21 between them. There will 110 buses in total. Torquay depot will be 100% electric. The buses should be operational by early 2026.

Stagecoach South West is rolling out a major electric bus programme after striking a partnership with energy solutions company VEV, with new charging hubs already under construction.

The operator has committed to introducing 110 fully electric buses by early 2026, backed by a 7,200kW charging network spanning depots in Torquay, Exeter and Barnstaple.

The flagship site in Torquay will feature 27 high-powered chargers, while Exeter and Barnstaple will add a further 21 between them. All three depots will be connected through VEV’s smart charging platform, VEV-IQ, which monitors and manages power use in real time.

Peter Knight, managing director of Stagecoach South West, said: “Our partnership with VEV represents a major step forward in our commitment to sustainable public transport across the South West. The expertise and technology that VEV brings, particularly their VEV-IQ platform, gives us confidence in delivering reliable, efficient electric bus services to our customers.

“The comprehensive charging infrastructure across Barnstaple, Torquay and Exeter will form the backbone of our electric fleet operations, supporting our goal of having the full electric fleet of 110 buses operational by early 2026. As part of this project, our Torquay depot will be 100% EV; which marks an exciting milestone not only in Stagecoach South West’s decarbonisation journey, but also in that of Stagecoach Group.”

Simon Cubitt, commercial director (bus and coach) at VEV, added: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Stagecoach on another key project for their business, delivering a comprehensive charging infrastructure that will support the seamless transition to electric bus operations across Devon.

“This project demonstrates our commitment to supporting operators throughout their electrification journey – from initial infrastructure deployment through to ongoing optimisation via our VEV-IQ platform.”

Stagecoach said the investment would not only cut emissions but also improve passenger experience, with quieter, smoother journeys and upgraded accessibility features.

How does the charging work, because 48 chargers to charge 110 buses doesn't add up.

I understand the land at Matford depot was found to be unsuitable for a charging station. Any way Exeter can still get electric buses?
