Haha I like the pun! Thank you will take with me as a precautionWouldn't hurt to take it with you to err on the side of caution. It'll be a non issue anyway, would be a bit nuts if it was.

Hello you fine folks,
After waiting what felt like a millennia, seeing peers get on and start driving for them, SouthEastern have offered me an assessment day. Great!
However, 1.5 years ago I already completed these assessments with GTR, only to fail at the MMI stage.
As I understand it, the initial assessments are kept on a national database and you can circumvent these on application.
After Querying this I got an email saying since I failed MMI, I must start all over again.
Is this correct? Its contrary to what the assessor told me, I dont want to to rock the Apple cart but dont really want to resit if i dont have to!?
All the best,
James

I did and got this response..To my knowledge that is incorrect. The national assessment data is stored for 5 years, why else would this be stored. Maybe best to contact and talk to them directly
Interesting, but isn't SouthEastern former GTR and now Government owned? I would have thought, with those variables it should be ok, frustrating as i work in hospitality and have our firstborn to care for, time isnt a commodity I have in abundance.Depends on the TOC, some will just make you resit the one you failed, some will make you sit them all again. Also worth mentioning to others reading the thread that although you may have passed assessments for one TOC, they may not meet the "pass mark" for another TOC.
Whilst there is a national standard pass mark, the majority of TOCs require an enhanced standard, and the level they set apparently varies from TOC to TOC.
A TOC can require you to resit everything if that is their policy. It's up to you if you want to proceed with them and resit or scrap that application and try for a different operator that wouldn't want you to resit everything.I did and got this response..
"Good Morning #####,
Hope you're well.
I'm just following up from a query you passed onto our Recruitment Admin on Wednesday.
I have had a look on the National Database and can see that you previously failed your MMI in October 2024 which is part of your assessment. Ultimately this means that you've failed your assessment for Trainee Train Driver.
You have one more attempt at the assessment which will be when you come in on Wednesday the 10th of October. You will need to re-sit the whole assessment. On the 10th you'll be doing your VTS, Paper Pencil Assessment and VSE, and then if you're successful then you'll be invited on a seperate day for your MMI.
I hope that answers your query and we look forward to meeting you then"

Studying begins now.
It's only if you have been unsuccessful with the OPC assessments twice it may affect your applications (depending on when your first took the psychometric assessments).Hi
I hoping someone can provide me with some guidance or advice. I apologise in advance if this is not the right place to ask. If it isn't, I would appreciate any guidance as to where I can post this.
Anyway, for context I have previously passed the OPC assessment / trainee train driver recruitment process with one company and have provisionally been offered the role (passed at national standard) - for clarity, let's say they are Company 1.
However at the same time I was still in the recruitment process of two other trainee train driver applications with two different TOC's, which I wanted to complete, irrespective of having passed the OPC assessment with Company 1.
The application with Company 2, I undertook the enhanced standard and passed, however I was not successful at the manager's interview.
The application with Company 3, I undertook a SJT assessment, but was not successful and therefore I will not proceed to the next stage.
My question is, as I have been unsuccessful on two occasions of the train driver application (with Company 2 and 3), will this have an effect with my offer with Company 1?
With company 2, I didn't need to take a psychometric tests again. They saw on the OPC database that I had passed at national level with company 1, and just asked me to only complete the VSE test, at enhanced level, which i passed. I was then invited to attend a final driver manager interview, which i was then not successful for. It's only if you have been unsuccessful with the OPC assessments twice it may affect your applications (depending on when your first took the psychometric assessments).
From what you have written it seems as though you failed a DMI correct? The driver manager interview, which would not affect the application process for another company.
Also in regards to the SJT I'm assuming this was an online assessment with "company 3" and again should not affect your overall pass.
If you pass the OPC assessments, and then take them again as part of a process with another company and you then failed, it would supercede your original pass and therefore would affect your position with "company 1"
But it seems like you have taken the psychometrics again with company 2, passed at enhanced standard which would also supercede your original national standard pass! So well done for that.
What assessment are you going in for?Random, but what's the dress code for the assessment centre?
Short answer then, no.With company 2, I didn't need to take a psychometric tests again. They saw on the OPC database that I had passed at national level with company 1, and just asked me to only complete the VSE test, at enhanced level, which i passed. I was then invited to attend a final driver manager interview, which i was then not successful for.
One month later, I completed a SJT assessment with company 3, which was an online assessment and failed.
With company 1 - i have passed the medical and just waiting on a start date.
My only concern was that as I have failed twice with 2 different TOC's (1 at final driver manager interview and the other at SJT) - whether that would jeopardise my offer with Company 1
thanksShort answer then, no.
Don’t quote me on this but I think it’s up to the TOC if they want you to resit the assessments or not, just from what I’ve read on these forums anyway.Hello you fine folks,

Thank you sirThis might depend on the pass marks set by the TOC you've applied for, and unfortunately nobody really knows what the pass marks are even for the National standard, never mind the Enhanced standards that are entirely of the TOC's choosing. So nobody can really say whether or not you should expect an email saying you failed based on four to seven miss clicks, but I can't see you being left in the dark entirely.
Southeastern also quite kindly go through an example question with you before you take the assessment if you're still unsure on the day. A lot of it is common sense stuff really so try your best to relax and not overthink it too much. You'll be given a passage of text to read. It can be on anything. There's then a series of written questions, based on the text, and you have to pick the correct, or best, answer, based on what the text says. It can be a direct answer, or you'll need to draw conclusions and inferences from what's given. Both the text and the questions will be available for the duration of the test
Any basic verbal comprehension test should suffice as practice. Most importantly, the answers you require are in the text. If it says the sky is yellow, then the sky is yellow.
Trainee train driver. Was going to wear a shirt with a suit jacket (no tie) and some black jeans. Is that too much? What assessment are you going in for?
Track/offtrack/W&G - Casual. Jeans and a Tshirt is fine. I went smart and was grossly overdressed. Most were in trackies and hoodies.
S&T - jeans and shirt is fine.
Signalling/office - as smart as you can without being flashy. No tie bars, no cufflinks.
I and most I was testing with wore suit no tie. You can never dress too smart but you can dress not smart enoughTrainee train driver. Was going to wear a shirt with a suit jacket (no tie) and some black jeans. Is that too much?
Thanks! Yes that makes sense.I and most I was testing with wore suit no tie. You can never dress too smart but you can dress not smart enough
Congratulations!!Thanks! Yes that makes sense.
