I'm surprised the punters could see any of the scenery with that all-encroaching vegetation!
They were more interested in their breakfast service, as far as I could see. Anyway, the scenery a bit further along is spectacular (see AT units for details!)

Complaints on the Cambrian that the 1640(ish) Down passenger train from Shrewsbury had to be cancelled to allow the Belmond to go to Machynlleth.

The punters got the full authentic west Wales experience this morning. Torrential rain and gale-force winds. Detrained at MCN and soaked through between platform 1 and the minibuses via the footbridge, despite the corporate pac-a-macs and the flunkies with umbrellas.

Is that the most expensive Tractor Growl per mile cost in the UK? :D

And not for the first time either. I rather suspect TfW isn’t best pleased with the Bellmond and the BE.

I guess that was IJ19 BHI-AYW yesterday? Left BHI 25 mins late and arrived SHR 30mins late.

'This service was cancelled between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth due to late arrival of an inbound service (YI)'

Maybe blaming the presence of the Belmond train, which was more or less on schedule, might have been a handy excuse? Just a guess, obviously I don't know. TFW terminated another AYW train at SHR in the morning for the same reason, and that can't have been Belmond related.

Parts of the carpark at MCN were barriered off for their minibuses today though, which was certainly a nuisance, and they screwed up some Pwllelli trains big-time on a test-run a few weeks ago.

Out of interest, when the Royal Scotsman runs to Kyle of Lochalsh and anywhere else it does in the Highlands, what sort of punctuality issues are caused (if any) on the single lines there?

It looks more like 1J21 SHR-AYW, which was PD cancelled (i.e., planned). The Belmond took its path SHR-MCN.

1J19 was CAPED at SHR, probably due to the late-running, with a right-time restart from there as 1Z19.

The locos (66744 & 66748) and ECS (presumably the stock) went back to Eastleigh on 5Z56 today.
Hopefully only for some quick fettling/re-stocking, otherwise not looking good for tomorrows run to Yorkshire !.

Why not Stewarts Lane as far more convenient and has been hosting Belmond before I believe ?.

5Z56 66744/748

Yesterday’s arrival into Victoria was 73 minutes late - most appears to have been lost at Clapham Junction.
Do Belmond do Delay Repay? :p

It does appear that he stock went to Stewarts Lane, before heading down to Arlington in Eastleigh for the night before returning (Via Stewarts Lane) this morning.

Yes, it was sitting in platform 3 for quite a while, in full sunshine and attracting a lot of attention from everyone - it was quite a bit of fun telling the "normals" what the cost of a ticket for it was...

That joke was being cracked quite a bit with the Belmond staff while it was stopped!! :)

When it came back from Eastleigh today, did it have 99104 included in the rake? That one was still missing while it was at Clapham Junction.

It's made it to the north now. Just passed Cononley running about 15 minutes early on 1Z80 Keighley - Penrith.

I saw it in Carlisle today and the coaching stock was 99101 (next to 66748) to 99110 (next to 66744) in numerical order minus 99104.

Hmm... at least I think we can now deduce which carriage was causing all the problems in the test runs!

Planning to see it on the Chiltern line later this afternoon.

If the coach was constantly causing problems and train's being cancelled, l'm surprised it wasn't removed before. Great loss of revenue and customer confidence.

Weirdly RTT has it as cancelled yet still ran albeit was late early on and then arrived early
When a service is cancelled but then reinstated for X reason, RTT never gets rid of the cancellation message so it remains up even though it ends up running. Happens sometimes.

Rarely any issues on the Kyle line. It often used to cause a small delay to the 1346 from Kyle as the RS is too long for the loop at Strathcarron, so by the time the 158 had arrived, dropped the token, the RS had picked it up, the driver had pressed the plunger for the level crossing and the train had finally left, the service train could often be five or so minutes late leaving which had a knock-on effect on other services. A simple fix a few years ago of retiming the service train to give a it a few minutes longer dwell at Strathcarron solved that!
