I managed to book a ticket a few weeks ago for a few days' time, though starting in Debrecen. That was for a couchette.

I've just had a look in the MAV app, I can't seem to book any of the sleeper options for that journey...

Checked for later this month on MAV and there is a replacement bus during the night.

Please mention your travel date. There can be multiple reasons why you can't book, but to determine the problem, the exact date is needed.

There are single sleeper rooms from Brasov on the 9th September, for example, and there were a few days ago too. So it can be booked - maybe not just for your date?

21st or 22nd September. Had a look at MAV site, train can be booked but there is a rail replacement bus.

If you only need a reservation, then MÁV because CFR don't sell reservation-only online. For ticket+reservation, I'd compare prices.

When I last checked it was coming out at around 110 EURO for solo sleeper cabin.

Mind you ! Due to engineering works between Jibou and Dej the sleeping car and couchette car passengers must vacate their beds in Jibou to change to a bus replacement bus.
East of Dej only seating cars are offered.

The Ister is showing no change, well I hope it is.

The Ister doesn't pass through Jibou/Dej
