/9s have major internal corrosion. Today could be its last. /9s were never given the proper corrosion protection treatment in the 80s and therefore have aged the worst, despite them being 3 years newer then the 8s and 2 years newer then the 7s. With barely any /7s going for scrap it seems the 8s will be the 2nd subclass to go. Only 14 of those left(not including the now obsolete 455868).
Last week I knew it was 5848/5853 so I’m not sure who fed you that. There is no move tomorrow. 5914 ends Guildford tonight and I well imagine it to start a diagram there tomorrow.
Yeah some people, including ZainOnSWR said that 5851 was originally going with 5853.

There are now so many spares knocking about from scrapped units it wouldn't suprise me that units which have been sat about waiting parts are now able to be used again.
SWR clean their fleet? Could have fooled me! The 450s have black fronts now and most of the 455s have brown translucent windows.
Door fault most likely. They arrived on time. 5729+5863 came off Wimbledon Park for the next working which was the 0833 Guildford via Cobham.
I would imagine that a unit covered in graffiti that is still needed for traffic would be a priority for cleaning.
Shoe gear/3rd rail issues. Inbound 2F service tripped the 3rd rail supply, before it was decided that the stock should come out of service the next working was loaded and departed Waterloo. One of the downsides of such short turn round times on the majority of the suburban network at Waterloo.
Interesting. The inward was a booked diversion via Chertsey and didn't lose any time which is surprising if it tripped out the power supply.

And I note that 5723, which is still in service, includes the numerically lowest ex-508 car (71526), and thus presumably the oldest mu carriage still in passenger service on the mainland. There is older HST and hauled stock of course.
