Another bit I noticed on the invite to the OPC in the invite from the TOC was there will be a situational judgement exercise in between the computer tests and the MMI. What will this entail please? This must be a new element, as I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a part of the process 3 years ago?
As I’m on the ‘old’ system because I first sat them pre December ‘24 and therefore only get 2 attempts total, rather than the newly created 3 possible attempts, will I still need to sit this element of it?

It's a multi-choice test that informs how the interviewer shapes the MMI. So, you can't fail it. It's to help the interviewer probe in the right places. It gave a series of scenarios and then you were asked to judge a series of actions in relation to the scenario as to whether they were helpful, neutral, or unhelpful. None of the scenarios were directly linked to railway situations.

Something has grabbed my attention in the practice materials. I’ve just been giving them a thorough read. It states in the bullet pointed list under the heading, ‘During the computer tests’ ‘• Work as quickly and as accurately as you can.’ Then further down the list of bullet points it says ‘•…….you will be penalised for both wrong answers and working slowly.’
It’s news to me that we’re penalised for working slowly on the ATAVT. I was under the impression it just had to be completed during the allotted time slot for the test? From what I remember I was in no rush, taking a breather between each pic to be composed for the next one. So this could be the reason I failed?!

Hi, looking for some help as I’ve been searching the internet with mixed results!
I am potentially looking to apply in the future for a trainee train driver position and have some questions around the medical standards required.
I was recently told by my Consultant that my Type 1 insulin controlled diabetes was in fact Type 2. Although it will still require insulin going forward it is well managed and I have had no hypoglycaemic incidents which require any assistance at all since I was diagnosed and overall my condition is managed very well.
My question is - would I be considered for a trainee driver position with my condition Or is it highly unlikely I would be accepted into this role?

Congratulations!! I’m waiting for my medical too, I’ve had my verbal offer and I have a provisional start date for 1st December but need to wait for my medical before a formal offer comes through!

I am currently doing the online assessments for GWR for the conductor role. I have done the numeracy aptitude test and was sent the Ticket Checking test, 40 questions in 10 minutes. I feel like I was at a decent speed and was accurate but felt I got no where near 40 questions. Should I be worried? I thought I had flunked the numeracy test so was very surprised when I was sent the ticket checking test.

Can’t comment on that specific one but some tests are designed not to be able to be finished

Have my assessment day on 8th September. I have read through the practice materials but have somehow deleted the email when clearing my inbox out. Is there anyway of getting a copy from somewhere? I have reached out to them to see if this is possible but wondered if any one from the Exeter assessments had a copy?

We are pleased to advise that you have completed the first stage assessment for the role of Trainee Train Driver - Reading.
The next step of the process will be stage two assessment for which you will be contacted by email in due course to confirm the details.
Timescales for the next stage in the process may be extended as a result of changes to workforce requirements.
Does it mean they think I haven’t got enough scores and they will wait for other people to complete the test and then send me the second stage invite?

I received the same email earlier this year and two weeks later I did my dmi so I believe this might just be a standard email they send to everyone
These sort of tests often look for accuracy over speed, so it is natural that you won’t be able to complete them all. Obviously if you’ve only done 10 it’s more of a problem, but it’s better to attempt 20 and get 80% rather than attempt 30 and only get 60%.
Well since this afternoon I was sent the SCAAT test and then just before heading to bed got sent the RAAT test which I will do tomorrow. So I guess that answers that question just really proud I got this far.

I have my medical on Friday and I have a nut allergy, will I need to take my prescribed EpiPen with me? It is not regular medication so I am unsure.

Always declare anything you may use, regardless of how infrequent or minor you may think it is. Take it with you and tell them why you carry it

Smart. Majority of Males in my assessment centre had shirts and trousers on, a few in suits.

Yesterday after weeks of waiting and having completed various online assessments. I was sent an email congratulating me and inviting me to an assessment centre for the role of a trainee driver.
Yesterday also happened to be the day of an appointment at the hospital as I am expecting my first child. During this time at the hospital I read this email congratulating me and inviting me. Of course, having been occupied with something very important I wasn’t able to open up the link to book for my slot for the assessment.
So once I returned home yesterday evening, I logged in to select a slot. But as I went to select a slot, there was nothing to choose from. No date or location to choose from.
I sent a screenshot of my issue and contacted the recruitment team and explained the problem I was having. This morning I received an email back saying there were only 90 slots and they’re all gone now. They said they will contact me if there are any further assessment centres.
Is there any chance of this happening again or am I just hoping for a miracle at this point? I’m absolutely gutted as I really wanted this role. I’ve been blaming myself all day over it. If anybody thinks there is anything else I can do, I’d honestly appreciate any feedback.

Wouldn't hurt to take it with you to err on the side of caution. It'll be a non issue anyway, would be a bit nuts if it was.

After waiting what felt like a millennia, seeing peers get on and start driving for them, SouthEastern have offered me an assessment day. Great!
However, 1.5 years ago I already completed these assessments with GTR, only to fail at the MMI stage.
As I understand it, the initial assessments are kept on a national database and you can circumvent these on application.
After Querying this I got an email saying since I failed MMI, I must start all over again.
Is this correct? Its contrary to what the assessor told me, I dont want to to rock the Apple cart but dont really want to resit if i dont have to!?
