I had to remove these, and the front splitter, as London was going through its speed hump period, where it was impossible to drive anywhere without potentially ripping it off.

Even after removing the splitter, the bumper was still quite low to the ground (the car had been lowered, mind) so it still needed a certain type of driving and avoiding certain roads.

Geordie back from exile.
Looking at the bit on the programme where Clarkson is spinning the wheels trying to pull the caravans, I noticed a bit of what looked to be damage to the rail head when he eventually did get moving. Anyone know if there needed to be some repairs to the rails after this?

A few sandbags in the boot might have helped with that, plus perhaps a little more delicacy on the accelerator. But then this was the man who came up with the V8 blender.

You know that thing they did with the stretched limo's a few years ago, when James May did the Alfaab? that would've worked better on this, watching them reversing the Jag up the railway they really need a cab at each end :D

Incidentally, who's in charge of continuity on the show, Clarksons' Sports Train is jumping from left to right right tracks like mad ...

Personally I find it intresting that they say a train is a locomotive and carriages. Rather different to what we actualy have. I wonder what people would say if they knew most stock was mu's not locos.

Maybe the thameslink order should have been expressed 300 multiple units instead of 1200 carriages?

Like it or loathe it - It makes far more money abroad for the BBC then just about any other programme they sell abroad. It pays its production costs many times over so the talk of it being a waste of tax payers money is not valid.

I loved the last episode but there was some very dodgy editing where he kept on swapping tracks in his persuit of May when there was no where to cross. But its all good fun

Generally on most challenges, they will do the race, then they do lots of artsy shots on the way back/on the route again, a few days after. So they have more footage to use for any voiceovers, I guess they would have done a run down there before the race. (maybe with a trained driver to help with route knowledge) and empty carriages where possible. To get the artsy shots. Then done the race the next day.
