I received an invitation for an assesement but when I click on the link there is no slot available. Did that happened to someone here ?

Hi all

A while back I applied for a trainee train driver in Norwich and have been put into a pool to do a test.

Does anyone know if that's a good the meaning the application process as I haven't heard any back as of yet.

Hate to break it to you Sean but you're probably one of thousands.

I'm in the same boat but this is my second round (havong applied six months ago)and after hearing and reading more it makes me realise just how hard it is to progress.

Keep your fingers crossed because you can never say never but take everything one step at a time.

I have just now received the email confirming that I passed the SJT and have been told I need to wait to be called for psychometric testing. I’ve already passed all the psychometric testing last year but I always seem to get stuck at this point. Hopefully, they finally call me for an interview.

We shall see!

Well done! I received an email this morning too passing the SJT.
I'm not sure what to expect. Do you have any advice please?

I've also had the passed the SJT test email for the Clacton mainline job, and in the pool for the next stage. I am pretty sure that is the soft approach to saying thanks for your interest but we have the candidates we want.
I've applied loads of times over a ten year period and never been lucky enough to get further.

you say that, but in the November round I passed the SJT and then 4 months later they did bring me in to do stage 1. I have however been waiting for stage 2 ever since

The reality is in the middle. Getting placed in the pool does roughly translate to "you've passed, but our applicant pipeline is full so you're lumped indiscriminately with 000's of other applicants".

Some people will make it out of the pool, but its likely less than 1% of those in it. My 2 cents but if you're in a pool, hope for the best but certainly plan for the worst.

It’s definitely a long game. Which is frustrating; but hopefully worth it in the long run.
I just hope they hurry up with letting me do the stage 2

Only in previous applications.
The more I read this thread the less confident I'm feeling about progressing any further. I know it is a difficult job to get into, but I think I've underestimated just how difficult. Oh well, keeping fingers crossed

Hello can you please help? I have received an email to do online tests with greater Anglia. Would this be the SJT?

That is more than likely. Have had that a couple of times now. If it is, it's not timed, but best to get it done as soon as possible.

My first time applying I got to stage 1 and passed. Just never been invited to the stage 2 yet. When chased they’ve said I’m still in the pool but they don’t know when I’ll get to do back for the next bit.
I'm in a similar position. Passed stage 1 back in June last year and never been invited to stage 2. I've emailed twice and been told my application is still live, but they can't give me a date for the second stage. Not sure whether to reapply or not.

Think they’re probably waiting to see what happens when they’re nationalised. I know it’s difficult but keep positive, it will happen I’m sure

So frustrating isn’t it. I’m just sat here hoping for the magical email whilst trying to not rage quit my current job :’)

Source? And what about internal hires (from non-driver roles)?
This is part of the driver pay deal agreed this week. Internal non driver and external candidates will have to apply to be depot drivers at these locations to progress to mainline.
